See Curtis, doesn’t that make you feel better? What else do you want to tell us? You ask and I will tell you. I wish Lionel would get their colors right. I also wish they did work on stuff they sell out of warranty. I wish MTH was it's old self but I am very pleased they are still here. I wish MTH would get PS3 conversion kits and electronic parts back in stock (TIU. WIU, WTIU, etc). I wish MTH did warranty work.
I am happy that Atlas is using DCS. I am happy Menards is in the train business. I understand they are not cream of the crop but that is OKAY because they are AFFORDABLE!!!
But MOST OF ALL I am glad that Rich Foster is doing his best to keep MTH and DCS Alive and he has my utmost support. AND YES I believe that DCS is the better operating system. I hate losing control of my Legacy engines due to GROUND PLANES! WHY WHY WHY must I have to run parallel wiring because a stupid antenna can't get the signal.
And the BIGGEST THING ........
I am so happy that I have trains and freedom of speech on the best forum out there. So many whom I have not met but feel I can call them friends!
There you ask and I delivered! WOW I feel fantastic now!!!

After many years of reading forums, it is easy to see that some just want to find fault with everything. Build an absolute perfect model engine and sure nuf someone would say the paint is too shiny and the couple pocket is wrong. Let's just hope the negatives don't discourage Menards from offering new products. They complain and complain and when they don't have anything to complain about they complain about that.

Another thing that Menards has that others do not is inventory. Just looking at rolling stock, they have 7 pages worth of options on their website. All available to order and ship. Add the buildings and other accessories and the list just grows.

What alot people don't understand is that Menards are built to a price point say Menards wants to build a scale flat car with a tank. The mfg will send several levels of what they can build and the price point level and detail of each, the vendor picks one that fits the price they would like to sell it for.
So if your one who says its not scale, it should have more detail or they should use die cast trucks and couplers and then when they cave in to your demands and the prices goes up, you complain again about the price. Nothing is free in this life you want more you will have to pay more. When I was driving I always liked the Cadillac Escalade, always wanted one. Guess what I never got one, because I could not afford it so guess what I bought a ford, same with our Trains buy what you can afford and be happy with it.I'm very with what I have and always have been.

Adam and Dave make good points.
One of the things I like about Menards is that when they announce a new product it’s in stock and ready to ship. I don’t have to pre-order and wait a year or two before I receive it. When Menards announces a new product if I want it I place my order and in a week or less it’s delivered.

You can buy just about anything you need at Menards. You can buy wood, wire, screws and nails for bench work. Heck, you can buy all the tools too. They have a lumber yard you can drive into and they'll load it for you.
You can even buy a small refrigerator to put in your train room. Sometimes the employees can be s little irritating.

Well som2 can buy almost anything but for the rest of us the shipping would kill us. BETTER would be for them to build in the eastern USA! I know a nice area near me!!!

"They complain and complain and when they don't have anything to complain about they complain about that. DennyM "
Most of the complaints I read are usually about quality. When you pay good money and in many cases big money, the customer has every right to deserve and expect a top quality product. As for Menards they sell on price and I expect only acceptable quality that I might have to tinker with.

Menards has improved their quality but they still have a ways to go. I got a train right now on my layout made up of mostly Menards box and tanker cars. All cars run and look great running. Anytime I get a Menards freight car and before running it I go over it for proper wheel gauge, any issues with the couplers or trucks. I have to be honest I find very few issues and its mostly the couplers that seems to be the issue. if the couplers won't stay closed I use a drop of super glue on the tongue of the coupler. It will never open again. Not for everyone but it works for me.
Btw if I had this problem with a Lionel, Mth, or AtlasO I would have been upset. Btw I did have a issue with a new AtlasO grain car, one of the trucks was so stiff that it kept derailing the car. I took off the truck and found out the mounting hole on the truck was either to small or the mounting nub was too big. By a little sanding and oil everything is fine. But should this happen on a car that cost $85. I don't think so but it did and lucky for me it was a easy fix. When a Menards car cost $24.00 I think you should expect a tweak here and there.
