I think Mr. Claus is losing his mind. He thinks Christmas is in February. That’s what the Lionel elves told me. They said my Legacy Strasburg 2-10-0 won’t be delivered until then! Are you sure about that, Brian? The Lionel Store is showing an ETA of 12/20 for the 2-10-0’s. And their dates are usually pretty accurate. I’d keep a close eye out on the store’s website this week. And if you see the “preorder” button change to “add to cart”, that’s a pretty good indicator those jewels are in-stock and ready to ship to dealers and folks who buy direct from the Lionel webstore. Dave, no actually I’m not sure. You never know with O gauge deliveries anymore. I was going by the delivery date for the 1990’s Strasburg 2-10-0 on Charlie Ro’s website. February 10th has been the date listed for a while there. I have no doubt it probably has or will be changed.

I've no idea how involved Santa is with my train items - I may have had too much influence on the process... Dave I take it that you have been a very good boy for many years then? Why, yes...of course...that's exactly it....*cough*...

He's bringing me a Lionchief+ 2.0 I've had my eye for a few months. Santa's helper said he put it aside for me so I can have it for Christmas.😁

Santa is using the USPS for delivery of a gift that Santa is sending. It started out in Canada and is now in Chicago after clearing customs. Five more days left for it to arrive.

Train "related" yes. Actual train stuff no. I've been spoiled in the past by having excellent soldering stations at work (including the PACE station. You'll typically only know it from industry or military). At home I've been using a Weller basic station with an external power adjustment. Works, but on small items is awkward and no actual temperature control. So getting a station this year that is also ESD compliant. Also tired of hauling my small Husky air compressor in the house to use my airbrush. Works great, but it's very noisy and bigger than I like for just airbrushing. However, do not want an airbrush compressor w/o a tank. One came up on sale at Amazon with a 4.7 rating (the compressor, not the accompanying cheap airbrush, although it may work as a primer brush, will see). I like the tank and the output is 4 times what my old Paasche VL3 needs, so keeping the tank above the regulated output pressure will be easy. Way quieter than my Husky by the reviews, and overall dimensions are 12.5" x 9"x 6". So this year, Santa is bringing these.

For a long time I had one of those all-in-one "pencil" irons. It did OK but was soooo slow to warm up. Then I picked up a real soldiering station that warms up ultra quick. Not a PACE but a nicer station for sure. The pencil is in the go box. Same is true of the hot glue gun. I picked up a larger more industrial strength model and it creates molten glue in a matter of moments.

Santa surprised me with a new building for the Christmas Village. This is by Lemax and the chimney smokes. You put water in it and it creates steam.

I think Mr. Claus is losing his mind. He thinks Christmas is in February. That’s what the Lionel elves told me. They said my Legacy Strasburg 2-10-0 won’t be delivered until then! With all the excitement surrounding Lionel’s 2023 catalog, you might have missed this. Tonight I noticed the new ETA on Lionel’s webstore for the brass hybrid steamers is now 5/31/2023!!! Quite a slip, considering the last ETA on Lionel’s webstore was showing around Christmas 2022. What happened???
Not sure how things could be that far off, considering the usual travel time “on the water” between the OBS date and Lionel receiving product in NC is 8-12 weeks. So if Lionel was just expecting them around Christmas, that would imply an OBS date of late Sept 2022. Yet now they’ve got an ETA of 5/31/2023… which would imply these gems haven’t even shipped yet. Something isn’t right in Lionelville. Sign of the times I guess.

Well it looks like the Easter Bunny won’t be bringing my Strasburg Decapod to my Easter basket either!! I was hoping that Puxatawney Phil would bring it and then stay out of his hole for an early spring! Is there any mythical creature for June??! Charlie Ro’s website is still showing a February 10th delivery, but I don’t think they change their delivery estimates until the date they list has passed.

Brian, I have no idea if this "story" is accurate... but a few folks over on Harry Henning's O-Gauge Facebook group have stated they heard the locomotives have in fact arrived at Lionel's warehouse in North Carolina. However, there were "issues with boards" that will take a few months to fully work out. Not sure if these are hardware issues or firmware/coding issues... or if this is even an accurate story. But that's the word on the street.
FWIW, it explains why the Lionel webstore was originally showing a Christmas delivery for these gems... then the ship-date was removed from the listings altogether... and now the ETA is posted as 5/31/2023. It would be nice if Lionel would make an official statement on this, since these steamers were flagship products announced in the 2021 Volume 2 Catalog. I don't have a dog in this race... just passing along the info for those who do.

Well after living through the frustration of waiting for the Acela to be delivered with all of its issues, they can hold onto the Decapods until they get them right. And hopefully there won’t be any issues with them.
After having some annoyances with previous Lionel steam locomotive models, the outcome of the Decapod could sway my decision on any future Lionel purchases.
