Although we didn’t have turkey, we did have a wonderful spread. Pierogies were awesome as always. We also had scalloped potatoes, eggplant parmesan, brussel sprouts, arugula and squash salad, roasted cauliflower, and, of course, pumpkin pie!
I’m bless with a beautiful wife who is also fabulous chef!

The hotel looks inpressive, Peter. We tried that one year at a hotel in Freeport. Did not turn out so well, so we do dinner at home.

We don’t always do a very large turkey spread but did yesterday as we were at home with kids for once and for that purpose used the Gordon Ramsay Christmas recipe, which takes some hours to prepare.

Last year was my first time smoking a turkey. Well a turkey breast anyway. It turned out awesome. For some reason we did turkey in the roaster this year. Andra put the bird in breast down to keep it moist and it actually worked. It was excellent. Although it hasn't always been turkey. Mainly because of different jobs and being at different. family House's.

Since I worked most of the 35 Thanksgivings and one never knew if I was going to make it home, my family started doing bruch on Thanksgiving......2 things were accomplished....if I could join them, I would....and, everyone has what they want/like. Now that I'm off Thanksgiving, we still go to brunch....we go to the Jefferson Hotel in downtown Richmond.....here are a few pictures from yesterday...... Peter The 30+ years I was in the food service industry I had to work on holidays. Now that I'm retired I've gotten back to traditional Thanksgiving.

Since I'm Italian turkey is only part of a family Thanksgiving meal. A typical Thanksgiving (Christmas, Easter, etc) begins with antipasto, pasta, meat and vegetables, fruit and dessert, and plenty of wine. Our immediate family is in New York and our extended family is spread around the country so we don't bother making a traditional holiday meal, so, since my cousin lives in the same community we went to Captian Hiram's Restaurant on the water with my cousin and her husband plus two more couples (friends) and had an American Thanksgiving feast.

I forgot to mention, my wife is German and when we celebrated Thanksgiving with her side of the family it was a German Thanksgiving feast. Along with turkey was at least one German meat like rouladen, goulash or some kind of wurst or schnitzel, and of course potatoes, gravy, vegetables and rich German desserts with lots of fresh whipped cream. No antipasto or pasta, tough on an Italian boy, but somehow I managed to eat my fair share and then some.
