Nice job on the video!!! It will be interesting to see the #5416 offering from Pat's Trains. I suspect it will be identical to the Mr. Muffin's special-run with the exception of having a standard tender rather than a PT tender w/waterscoop effects.
Your 50th Anniversity Hudson -- and it's first-class whistle, especially for the early 2000's -- shows just how good TMCC and Railsounds 5.0 could be in its day. Hands down, that Hudson has the "best" whistle, but the new Hudson's whistle is certainly respectable -- not to mention it has whistle-steam too.
I'm surprised the smokebox is still bright silver though, since there's been enough negative feedback about that to Lionel. I guess, once again, it shows that Lionel doesn't have a tight enough control on what's actually coming out of the factory. I know some folks will be very disappointed with the brighter silver smokebox -- especially since Lionel got it right 15 years ago. Just makes us all shake our heads as to why they can't get it right 15 years later. Makes no sense that BOTH the whistle and smokebox were done better 15 years ago.
Don't get me wrong... these are not deal-breakers for me. But it does further illustrate what many of us have been saying about Lionel quality control in the factory, and just a different creative philosophy in the Legacy Railsounds department now that Rudy and Jon Z have departed the scene. We WANT Lionel to be its best, but they're just not stepping up to the plate in that regard.

A couple of additional notes.... I just saw Pat posted a photo of his special-run #5416, and it does have a couple of notable differences from Mr. Muffin's #5415 Hudson:
1. Pat's Hudson appears to have polished siderods.
2. From at least the photo Pat posted -- could be lighting, can't say for sure -- it appears Pat's Hudson has the darker smokebox. In fact, Pat mentioned to me at pre-order time that his special-run would essentially be the Hudson locomotive that's catalog'd as part of The Pacemaker passenger set... PLUS it would give buyers the option of running with or without classification lights.
So until I actually see mine up close and personal Thursday afternoon/evening, it appears Lionel did communicate "some" feedback to the factory on prior locomotive issues. But it's ALWAYS a bit of a crap-shoot as to which locomotives will get certain special-treatments. And that's another nuance that makes pre-ordering a challenge when multiple road-number SKU's are offered. We never know which locomotive gets which features.

Laz
That looks and sound great! Interesting comparison. I do like a little more low end that the TMCC model offers but the quillability is cool. Have fun with it!

Thanks GUYZ for the CONGAS. I do like all of them. But granted the 50fh Anniversary just has the better sounds, whistle, deeper sounds. I do like the quillable whistle and better smoke along with the closer distance between engine and tender. The smoke box color was suppose to be a darker gray but as DAVID stated, not a dealer breaker, I can live with it. I hope Lionel gets the ship righted and starts to take the time to do inspections before everything is on assembly line and flowing. Otherwise it will just be the same old same old.

When I spoke with Ryan about the J and other paint color issues at York he said procedures were being put in place to help guard against that. Hopefully that is the case and we'll be talking less about paint and more about the locomotives themselves.

Thanks for the excellent video, George. You can't go wrong with 3 New York Central Hudsons. All three are fabulous but I like the TMCC one in the middle best. I prefer it's sound over the other two. I'm not saying it's the most realistic. I just prefer it. I don't know what they actually sounded like.
