Presently I'm selling some of my O gauge as lack of room and dabbing into g scale a bit. I always liked them but just didn't have any. I need to put the breaks on as have gone over board a bit,( which I have a tendency to do) I have 2 sets of A&B units with two motors in each unit an a GP-9 and two S-4's, also have a Lionel 0-4-0 Christmas set and a Bachmann big hauler set. And probably close to 20 cars, now need to figure where to set it up. I'm thinking starting with a 8 x 8 layout in garage which big door is block to prevent putting a vehicle in there by a aluminum carport ( I have no idea why the previous owner did that.) Won't be able to keep the trains in there but will be able to take them out there to run. ( until I get it sealed and insulated. need to put ceiling in and insulate above and insulate the walls and put walls up also, presently has 2 x 4 studding with outside covering but nothing inside. ) So I have my work cut out for me.

Sounds like you have a lot of train projects going on. I look forward to some photos!

I don't rate myself a collector of any scale, so in my case it's very little and it's all HO. This started with the two Lionel HO offerings of many years ago, one a Challenger and the other a Veranda Turbine. Both are very good quality and the Veranda has an incredible diesel and turbine sound sequence - from start-up to shutdown - despite its small size. I then slightly branched out into 3rail AC Marklin for other command control operating features that were not then available in O scale.
This video is not of the Veranda I have (I opted for the silver trucks version), but about 2 mins. in it records the turbine transition; the whole sequence lasts several minutes:
I stopped with the Marklin models although occasionally I run them and the Lionel just for fun. Never contemplated G scale for space reasons. Sadly, a friend of mine who passed away left a quantity of Bachmann Big Hauler and similar sets stored underneath a large N scale layout. When I looked at them and did a little research, it was clear that they are more toy-like than anything I have.
BTW, more than once I have asked Lionel whether Legacy could handle something like the HO Veranda sounds but have never got an answer. What I was driving at was whether there is some sort of system/memory limitation that prevents having certain sound sequences, but I am none the wiser for asking.

I don't dabble into other scales, but at Christmas time we set up a table top 3X6 Mayberry Hawthorne Village and have a UP HO Passenger train running. Friends and visitors have enjoyed this every year. LOL, even neighbors ask if we set it up so they can bring their kids or friends over to see it. Something about Mayberry and Andy Griffith that brings them.

Only O-Gauge for me. If I were new getting into trains or starting all over it’s possible that I would go would consider HO simply because of how much more I could fit in the space I have not to mention cost.
But O is so much in my blood (and all over my basement) now that there is no turning back!

O of course. It's the only layout. However I like trains so some G, Lots of HO, and some flyer pieces that I like. No N, too small.

I am mainly O gauge. I have bought a few pieces of G as we have a garden railroad at our club.

Started with O Gauge and in 69 moved to HO. Still have that but got back into O gauge in 2014 and that is the bulk of what I have and use. I do have an N gauge set and some extra pieces from the mid 80's. Also have some S gauge that was given to me. This past year I purchased some G. I have 4 Steamers (2-8-2) and 3 of the smaller Stainz LGB Passenger sets. Also have a few Freight cars and a couple cabeese. Always wanted to do Z but definitely too small. I love the O but it takes a lot of real estate. As for the G, Wow I thought O gauge track was high. G scale is outrageous.

Nope and have no plans other than O-Gauge. Maybe just old school, but that is what I was brought up on.

I don't collect any other scale trains partly because I am not a collector and partly because storage space is at a premium in Florida homes. I have an HO train with an Erie Lackawanna FM diesel and a few freight cars that I will be selling and an N scale New York Central E7 AB with 10 Kato passenger cars that I'm saving. Both of these trains have been packed away since we moved to Florida in 2016.
