Great news imo. Looks like Mth will survive.

I’ve been keeping track of all the MTH announcements by adding a separate email folder and storing the offerings I like best. Then I’ll pick out any must-haves I may want. But I’ll be picky as I prepare for October’s York Meet!
The new news from MTH sounds pretty exciting as they appear to be carrying on in the future. It’ll be interesting to see who the new buyer for tooling will be and how much of it. What interests me are Premier steam and electric locomotives.

I predict I will find a MTH engine some time in the future. I don't currently own one, but I find if I bide my time I will cross paths with one.

I wonder if the value of these unique releases will rise or not?
Happy to see MTH will live on but wish they would build out and retain some kinda stock on items.

I wonder if the value of these unique releases will rise or not? Happy to see MTH will live on but wish they would build out and retain some kinda stock on items. Anything is possible. I'm guessing many will hold their value for awhile as folks realize they might have missed an opportunity to purchase. But few its are likely to appreciate significantly, unless there's some unusual pent-up demand for something. For YEARS, MTH has pretty much made select items based on dealer orders. And we can often see this when looking at the Product Locator on MTH's website. Chances are pretty good that if something is really cool and unique, it shows up as unavailable through MTH's dealer network. I suspect a lot of the products announced in 2021 are gonna fall into this category. So if you really want something unique, it's best to put your name in with an MTH dealer -- especially the exclusive special-runs.

I read the email from MTH this morning. It is very good news for us MTH fans.
While I like having a catalog to look through I imagine it is quite expensive to produce. I usually find a couple of things in a huge catalog that spark my interest so I'm good with a virtual catalog where I can print out the few pages that are of interest to me.
For what it's worth, I've ordered 2 Imperial engines, the Trump ES44 2024 and the New York Central SD70. I don't buy very much from a catalog so the daily announcements are fine. If it works for MTH it works for me.

Pat sent the email, and I read it quickly thinking they were exclusive special-runs. However, he was just letting folks know these newly announced MTH items are available for pre-order. Here are the links from MTH's website announcement (general production items available from any MTH dealer):

No worries. I like the drop bottom gondolas - I wish they would make some UP/GN/NP versions. These cars were everywhere out west... but it seems they are doing a little of Lionel what if 'en by offering eastern road names too? The CB&Qs are winners.

This past week every time I open my email there is special announcement from MTH about a new product from one of their dealers. I begining to expect a new announcement every day now! It seems like it is a few select dealers who are driving what is being made by MTH. I wonder if the dealers are asking MTH what they would like to see made or if MTH is saying to the dealers this what we have planned to make and would you like a special run with this product. Be interesting to find out what is going on behind the scenes of these special orders between the dealers and MTH! I have an interest in 0-8-0 engine to be made in MTH's premier tooling in Southern road name. Lionel just made it in their LionChief line last year but I am looking for a better detailed engine than LionCief. I don't think MTH has done 0-8-0 in their premier line in several years. This paint scheme I am interested in... There are probably several of us that would like to see MTH do something we would like but how to express that interest to them is what I question.

Gotta agree... I could have updated this thread every day with anew announcement!!! I think MTH is the driver here, and a good handful of dealers are jumping on board for special-runs which seem to eventually sell out in many cases. I've spoken to one or two of the dealers stepping up to do these special-runs, because I have something I'm trying to drive. And the dealers appear to be highly dependent upon what MTH has planned for production (in terms of the basic offering). Of course, much depends upon which tooling still remains in MTH's possession, and which tooling isn't on the table for possible sale.
