Here is video I recorded yesterday in Mentor Ohio of long slow NS Norfolk Southern eastbound freight train 316 with 144 variety of freight cars from hopper cars, autoracks, articulated auto carriers, well cars with blue trash containers, telephone poles, etc. lead by 2 NS Thoroughbred Paint C44-9W / Dash 9's #9578 with a good sounding doppler effect Nathan 5 chime K5LA train horn & #9560 trailing 2nd.

Tom, That's the closest thing you will see to the old mixed freight these days. Very nice!! The car with power poles reminds me of the set of 6 flat cars with log loads I got recently. The are from an older era with no bulkheads. Oh how I dislike graffiti on freight cars, but what can the railroads do? Leave it go so resources can be directed for policing actual sabotage.

No DPU; can one reasonably infer most of these cars were empty, and being returned for reloading?

No DPU; can one reasonably infer most of these cars were empty, and being returned for reloading? Actually this train was 75% loaded. All the autorack had vehicles in them. So yeah I was shocked no DPU.
