That's a GORGEOUS set Bruce!! Love the color! The backsplash is nice too. Gary. Thanks Gary Somebody once told me the paint jobs on these reproductions were substandard but not on this set! The brown State hues also match up very closely to an original Baby State set in my possession. Too bad the application quality of the original doesn't equal that of the Williams. The backsplash is another reproduction....made of plastic. Bruce

Bruce, that is a beautiful set. Thanks Joe Its beauty really deserves a proper SG layout to run on. A modular affair for the deck outside could be a possibility. Bruce

Joe,
I don't have a lot of SG but because of an interest developed 35 years ago it evolved into taking up 3 rail O in a serious way. In honor, today was spent cleaning the State set.
I have a small percentage of post-war O but the main focus these days is on Command Control scale. I also need my stuff to run well or it gets ignored.

Bruce, that closeup shows just how beautiful and detailed that locomotive is. It's not an accurate scale model but it has a charm and appeal that is undeniable. Semi-scale O Gauge is my first love, probably because I grew up with Lionel in the 1950s, but pre-war tinplate, both O and Standard Gauge, are a very close second. If I find an MTH Lionel Tinplate O Gauge set with PS3 at an attractive price I will be very tempted.

For the last two years I have been building a tinplate layout as apart of the Roanoke Valley Model Railroad Club located in the basement of the Virginia Museum of Transportation.

Wonderful layout and videos! Beautiful modern tinplate trains. I really like the rock structures too.

There are terrific small makers even today. Here are some McKeen cars by Jim Waterman just built in 2021... about as Modern Era as it gets!!
