Here's a odd streamliner engine you may not have ever seen or heard of. In 1940, for what ever reason, the Southern Pacific Shop created this oddity. Taking a 1903 built S5 0-6-0 the SP Sacramento shop created this from the switcher. The SP567

When taiking or posting about Streamliners you must include the most famous one of all time. The Burlington Route Pioneer Zephyr. We have the Lionel Legacy Mark Twain version. An actual train. I am puzzelled though why Lionel did not include a Becky Thatcher car or at least offer it as an add on later. I keep hoping but I will probably have to buy another Zephyr set some day. The Lionel version is die cast and painted silver and the seam on top is a little rough. I may do a little work on it in the future and paint it with Molotow. A picture of Edward G. Budd and Mark Twain's granddaughter Nina Clemens Gabrilowitsh October 25th,1935 during the Christening of The Mark Twain Zephyr. Was never really a fan of the C&O Streamliner but after seeing Lionel's version at York I started to think maybe I was wrong. It really is a cool loco and very uniqie. Went back and looked at it a few more times. Now I find myself wishing I had grabbed It. I just might add it to the collection.

One streamline engine I admired greatly in "N" scale when I was in "N", was the UP 49er. After buying the engine, I waited over 2 years without the cars ever coming out till 5 years later. Meantime I had a professional re-paint some UP passenger set to fit with the 49er. I don't see many on "O" scale layouts, but if I were to model again UP, the 49er would be the first set I would acquire.

The PRR had a greta deal of trouble getting the engine to the Worlds Fir Grounds in New York wher it was first displayed.
