The guy searched and found an answerâŠhe then added to the thread. That is fine with me. Info is still info, no matter how old.
Some forums have rules against ânecropostingâ which is defined as resurrecting a post that was last discussed over three months prior. I donât think it happens enough here to be a concern.
Anyway, âSteamlocoâ, a little too much fluid is better than not enough, but It comes with experience as to knowing how much fluid to put in a particular engine. It sounds like you are off to a good startâŠ

It sounds like you are off to a good start⊠Tom Yeah, I agree - having contributed to that earlier thread because I considered it part of the Forumâs knowledge base. Iâll simply underline the fact that Lionelâs recommendations for refilling smoke units are very much on the conservative side and with most units you can and should saturate the wicking on the initial fill.
There are some specific issues with the two chamber dual units that supply stack and whistle smoke because the chambers are refilled from the same opening = the stack and you have to make sure the fluid is actually getting to both. A needle dropper and blowing down the stack can help.
