OK, more of the Texas Special. This set is a b*stard, in the sense that the A units at each end are fine 3rd Rail E7s and the B unit in the middle is a Williams non-scale dummy, which I found by complete accident years ago and then made a project of by adding ERR sound. This meant replacing everything, including the frame and trucks, which are all Lionel. No smoke, though, as that would have exceeded both my skills and patience: But this set and the B unit in particular are favorites of mine because all three engines have sound and rumble like mad, particularly on start-up. Tough to keep them lashed up under Legacy control because they are all TMCC and keep losing the settings, which must be my fault. And yeah, I know the coupler spacings are obscene but I have never got around to figuring out how to fix that.

I forget my Chevy loyalties and say that this “Firedome” is a true beauty.
