Love that switcher. Had one till a month ago, oiled and lubricated it on my work bench. Walked back I tripped and it went flying, shattered. Skinned knees and arms but only felt the loss of my Box Cab. Josef, Sorry for your loss! That is terrible. Did you say “Ffffuuuudddgggge” as you saw the pieces flying through the air? At least you came away from the incident in relatively good shape. Thanks all, for the comments. Bob, I really admire your Black Jack GG1. I would love to get or paint one into PC black... Tom No Fffffudges, or darns, just a I can't believe it. Was stunned for a while how I could fix it, but grabbing a plastic bag and picking up pieces from garage floor even under car and pickup, I saw it was impossible. In fact cleaning garage floor yesterday, found more pieces. They're in a bag, and will see if there are parts that maybe I can use in the future. At present, don't even want to look into bag and spread it out.

Am always late to this party but I don't like Mondays/I want to shoot the whole day down (Boomtown Rats c. 1979); they are deplorable and Tuesday is reserved for recovery. However, Never a Bad Day at Black Rock with this Beauty: TMCC cab forward #4294 with Railsounds 5 and massive Pittman motor:

The Lionel TMCC cab forward was a winner in my book! I’ve actually got this engine on rollers at the moment, playing around with sounds (RS5) and such and doing smoke and other maintenance, and it’s amazing how things have advanced in the last 15 years. Why, for a minute, I was almost inclined to be sympathetic to Lionel, as in the operating features have almost caught up with the great tooling they did way back when, as exemplified by this great model. But that has passed and now I am grumpy again. Feels like Monday.

Back in K-Line's heydays, they produced a 4-pack of black-bonnet ATSF aluminum tank cars. Now MTH is also producing a series of black-bonnet rolling stock as well -- including boxcars and cabooses. Here's a photo that highlights one of K-Line's bb tankers and one MTH bb caboose....

Thanks, didn't realize that the photo was sideways. Someday I'll figure out the posting of pics. Lola Bae loves to sit and watch me in the train room.
