Received a couple of pictures a few minutes ago. Not the best and obviously taken from a cell phone. But interesting nonetheless. What are they of? Whodunnit?

I can see it now. Needed to stare at it for a while. Definitely an RPO car.

Why does everyone see the RPO car? I don't even see the shell of the car. Looks to me like a view of the slots in a casino with someone's orange drink can hanging out. Do I need to stare at this more??? Inside of an RPO car.

Hmm, now I’m not so sure. I see what looks like mail slots and of course the people. But of it is an RPO, where is the rest of it.
Interest mystery.

I could not possibly guess because that looks like someone's pet project in which they have even added letters in the pigeonholes! I can say for sure that this is not one of my projects because I've never done an RPO interior with that kind of detail. K-Line made some nice RPO interiors and Delta Models sells kits (full O scale) to make RPO sorting areas but this looks like a one-off to me. Despite very learned doubts from other esteemed forumites over whether this is part of a scale model RPO car, I think that it clearly is. It looks to be sitting on a slightly beat up stamped metal O gauge frame and there is what looks to be a screw hole in the foreground. On the far right there also looks to be a two wire electrical connector that's very similar to what Lionel uses. I do wonder what the other side of the long assembly looks like and perhaps, Bill, you are teasing us about that. I spy with my modeler's eye that in the "ribbon" or index of images at the bottom of your photo there appears to be another one that might be of the same thing. If so, you should come clean. (You did say that you received a "couple" of photos.)

Here is the missing link. Harry sent these to me late yesterday. This started with Lionel messing up the stripes on the Js last Fall. Harry was working on the engines and told us that mechanically they were some of the best he has seen. The price was excellent so we got two and he repainted the stripes. Then the Cavalier set came out and the paint was awful. Lionel said no to repainting. We had not preordered, because we were disgusted with Lionel’s total lack of quality control. If they couldn’t get a Polar Express RPO correct, nothing was safe. Cavalier sets were cheap, we wanted a Cavalier set with our N and W emphasis, Harry was painting a set for someone else, so he agreed to do a set for us. That led to his going thru each car including an RPO that was empty save two LEDs. I think he is about finished with the cars. We will get some better pictures and put it all on here once he completes the train. Andre and Adam figured it out pretty quick but nobody said Harry.

Good one! Had us going for awhile. Send us some more pictures once you get the car. I never get tired of seeing Harry's craftsmanship.

Opened this one up too late...I would have guessed something to do with mail because of the letters in the wooden slots. Looks FANTASTIC BILL! Harry does it again!

Like Gary, I was also too late to this party, but I can agree that Harry does very nice work.
Bill, this will be a great addition to your roster.
