Great Thread Emile! Here is my first toy train! The Mighty Casey! It had track and a couple of cars too. You maybe can guess from the 2nd photo who purchased this for me! Great photos. That’s a fantastic memory caught on film. The second photo says it all. Thanks for sharing them. Emile

It was Christmas 1950, I got a 2026 set. I was 11 years old
. I have rebuilt it so many times I have lost count. I still use it on my layout with 2 more 2026's, a 2036, a 1668E and a 8690 trolley.

The fact that you still have these and they run, and I am sure many others still have running post and prewar trains, speaks to the quality of Lionel and other brand products back then. As the saying goes, they don’t make ‘em like they used to.
