Hi to all!
Today we are finishing some few other details. The main structure painting and mortar is nothing compare to the final details. Those can take long time specially if you want to achieve realism.
So, lets start. With the main structure done and window installed. we will proceed to add some realism touch, like copper copping cover and tar seams.
The copper foil you can buy at any stain glass store, is not expensive and self adhesive. This, give to your building a totally different look. The Tar seams, are nothing but while glue and black paint 60/40 or 70/30 mix. keep it in the glue bottle to apply it easy. Ghost Signs
My favorite!
Ghost sign are the building character. to make ghost sign you need to have the art you want and it should be mirrored. (we can do for you in case) The printer doesn't need to be a laser one, inkjet are great for that too. Measure the area and make the art accordingly, mark the area to cover over the building and paint it white. The paint work should be imperfect to add realism (picture)Remember the white painted is the white of the letters of the sign. The perfect the white paint is, the better letter will look.Is up to you. Now, pain the exposed brick in the middle, using the dry brush technique. sand paper it a little after the paint and remove the dust.

After both surface are dry (15 min) check if the art fit on the painted surface. then apply mod podge on the art side (ink) cover it well and then stick it over the painted area. Using a rubber (eraser) emboss the art into the brick grooves, and press firmly, do the same with the rest to remove air bubbles. You will see the bricks shape embossed on the paper.Do the same with all other signs and let it dry for 24 hours at 50% humidity or less.

Hi to all,Even there is not much attention I am going to finished the how to...topic. Ghost Sign. We glued them on the building and waited for 24 hours to dry. Today, we will proceed to remove the white paper side, damping it using a wet tower and expose just the black ink! Don't apply too much water, wet it gentle covering the whole sign. Rubbing with the same towel or using your finger very gentle. The white side will start to peel off and leave the black ink exposed. wet your finger a little and continue rubbing until all the first layer is removed. Let it dry. some white spot will show after dry, this is nothing but paper so wet you finger and remove it rubbing again in the area. Rubbing more will expose the bricks, something that we want actually. Now our two sign are ready. Andre. Attachments:
