Its really disheartening to see the curve headed in the wrong direction in so many states right now. I'm not sure what to make of it. Frustrating really.
Massachusetts seems to be holding steady on the down curve and I hope it stays that way.

An event I have been watching with interest is the Carlisle, PA outdoor car show. I’ve never been, but its a large outdoor car display and parts market that draws thousands. The PA department of health Actually tried to block it and filed an injunction- it went to court and the judge basically said “Why is it ok for the governor to march with protestors and ignore all rules of social distancing, and the car show is a problem?” The PA dept of health (which by the way the PA secretary of health is an openly transsexual woman...) Withdrew its injunction and the car show went ahead: www.pennlive.com/news/2020/06/wolfs-march-with-protesters-an-issue-in-pa-health-departments-bid-to-impose-covid-19-caps-on-carlisle-car-show.htmlI am hoping York will go ahead - perhaps with more of an outdoor area to satisfy social distancing guidelines. God only knows, I definitely need more beer, more good times with friends and more trains- heres hoping to a Fall York!

York weather can be hit or miss. Some Octobers it's sunny and pleasant, last Oct the winds were gusting to 30 + and it was freezing. Same goes with April. So outdoors is not an option.
As for the spike seen in some states, don't let the Mass media scare you. For the most part it's young adults getting it and it's better to get it now then to see a spike in the winter.

Sorry fellows but there will be no York in October. The Gov. Wolf has already said that any venue over 250 People will not be allowed for the rest of the year.

THIS IS A GOOD IDEA!! I KNOW AT THIS TIME I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE IN A CROWD OF 250 AS WELL! Gary. Well, IMO it's not a good idea to cancel York, but it is a responsible one. Just like April, I'm sure we won't get anything definitive from EDTCA for some time. No doubt they will do the right thing and wait until the event is canceled for them, which would hopefully mean they would get their deposit back for the fairground rental. Even if it isn't canceled, I doubt very much I would go.

I usually don't go in April, but hopefully I can get there in October. Well it's official no York for me this year. We're having our kitchen remodeled as soon as the governor allows interior work.

I had pretty much written off an October 2020 York this year anyway. And although I haven't heard anything "official" from the folks at Allentown ATMA, I'm not holding out much hope for the November 2020 "First Frost" show either. We were SO fortunate to get this year's ATMA February 2020 "Spring Thaw" show in. 2 weeks later, COVID-19 hit... and the rest is history.

No vaccine, no York Meet. Highly unlikely a vaccine will be ready for October.
Hopefully, all will be in place for next April.

I think it’s very likely that the countdown as of today should be 457 days till York. Or at least 457 days until I feel safe going to York. York is such a densely populated event that I don’t see it happening safely until the world has been COVID free for a number of months.

That is a very long time Emile and I understand what you are saying. The safety of Cheryl and myself are paramount as well. We are all hoping for a vaccine, but, I sure don't want the first round of shots. The Virology Department of Health Canada is working in very close conjunction with the Research Scientists who are trying to develop a viable vaccine. One of the studies going on now is an accelerated clinical trial of 230 volunteers who are being tested. The amount of world wide research going on is staggering to say the least! There will be mountains of data to be poured over. The research must be bearing fruit as the Russians seem to have tried to get their hands on our proprietary information. Also, everyone should bear in mind that the end result of a vaccine may be like that of a flu shot, taken yearly. Or the virus could be like the chicken pox and lay dormant in your body for years. Chicken pox vaccinations only became available in 1995. In conclusion I personally will wait a while to see what side effects there are and wait for the Bride to tell me it is okay to get "the shot"!!

I guess we could pray for a miracle and possible a vaccine would be available in early October?

The track record would suggest the likelihood of a vaccine is pretty slim. Without taking a pole I suspect most of us fall into the at risk category requiring we perform extraordinary social measures if we somehow hope to never contract the virus. Train shows on the scale of importance will naturally be last to open again if the current line of attack continues. Seasonal shift so that open air venues were available is a possibility and I'm sure there are better ideas to be found. Forgive me if I don't believe in a future medical breakthrough, but I am ramping up on prayer.

Folks, I think this is gonna be a countdown to nothing.
Trainfest 2020 in Milwaukee -- originally scheduled for Nov 14/15 -- has been officially cancelled per their website. Postponed until Autumn 2021. So it's just a matter of time for October 2020 York to be cancelled... most likely EDTCA is awaiting word from York Fairgrounds, so there's no issue with EDTCA incurring cancellation fees. Odds don't look too good for an Allentown ATMA show in November 2020 either. Time to just write off train shows in 2020 COMPLETELY.
