After we moved into our house in Roosevelt, NJ (I was 5) - it had a HUGE basement - Dad put together 8 sheets of plywood essentially 12' X 16', and the perimeter was all O 27 track, and an elevated loop near the front of the layout. Mainly had a 2037 and a 1035 Texas Special, the 1666 never ran well.
A bascule bridge at the back, a log loader and dump car was the entertainment. High speed layout, indeed!! ZW and a 1033 ran all this.
Still have all the train stuff. Once I get to a point, I'll be reviving the bridge and the log loader.
