Pennsy 484 – I’m a big fan of Lehigh Valley 6456/6476 hoppers and that green one looks fantastic. It looks like it only came with RTR sets, so I can only hope to get one from a set breakup, but tell me some details about it. Are the trucks plastic? Trucks riveted directly to the plastic car body? It looks like it has fast angle wheels so it should probably track better than my yellow 6176 hoppers.

Yes, mine is from a starter set, the Lionchief Scout set, and yes, yes, the trucks are plastic, riveted to the body. The yellowed printing on it gives it that old-school PW feel. I pulled it out of the box and took some pictures:

Thanks Jeff.
I have several of the 6456/6476 hoppers in various colors (red, tuscan, black, gray, yellow). They don’t track well on my Gargraves switches with the old type wheels so I put Railking trucks on the ones that have a truck mounting frame. I’ve never seen a green one. Yours looks gorgeous. Hope I can find one someday, but I’m not counting on it. There is actually a 6-30183 set break up on ebay now offering everything but the hopper. I also found that there is another RTR set (6-30127) with a blue hopper. And I found another variation: a slot-top hopper (6-16434) which I just picked up from ebay.
