Saw several 990 sets for sale for under $500. Maybe the introduction of the CAB3 is having some affects.
On another note there was a guy in the Orange hall selling components and circuit boards who claims Lionel is designing a new hand held remote. Anyone else hear that. He was an ERR dealer and his name is Roy if that helps.

I am very intrigued although people who know a lot more tech stuff than I do (or ever will) have been saying for years that Lionel could make a handheld successor to the CAB2.

That is what I recall. JDaddy and I bounced this around on another thread that I was not able to find on short notice. But I am not imagining this. In just the first few minutes of the feed (Lionel not Trainworld) when Ryan is telling what you can do with the Cab 3 device wise. Very quick remark and then moves on. If JDaddy reads this he may chime in as well.

Roy is correct. Again we talked about this in a previous thread as Ryan has said in his You tube videos. There will be a remote for the cab 3 when the technology is available.
The issue is with the CAB 2 the supplier of the LCD screen in binary black color no longer makes them. This technology has been changed to color screens. I.e. phones and car screens.
As soon as Lionel can test / design / develop this technology with a COLOR screen. A new remote will be released. Not sure when or how much, but it is in the cards...

$500 eh, still too expensive!! Dave Depends on if you need one right away. I seen the panic buy of remotes up to 1,500. Crazy but remember when they said the CAB 1 was going away? The price was well over 300 plus.

Ryan eluded to a remote being available when discussing about the CAB3 features some time back... 6-8 months ago. I am not sure which Lionel video it was, there have been so many. Ryan and I spoke about the CAB 2 limitations and why it was no longer being made approx. 2 years ago. And what the next steps would be to create a new one. So I can confirm the intent is there just cost and timing has not been formally announced.

In working from memory I was not my usual precise self and I overstated what Ryan said. He inferred that Lionel or somebody was going to make a Cab3 remote because he said that you could use among other things the Cab 3 remote to operate the new GG-1.
Wow, was this tedious finding this post. On July 18 I posted a question asking if I was hearing things or did Ryan say the the Cab 3 would work with a Cab 3 remote. This statement was made during the Lionel live feed done either that day or more likely the day before. As I recall JDaddy replied to the effect 'nice catch' I was wondering if anyone else caught that.
5:15+/- into the video Ryan says 'the Cab 3 remote', and it is just a single quick statement at the end of a thought about controlling the GG-1 with no explanation or elaboration.
