Yes, the Circus Knie Cadillac - definitely an advertising eye-catcher for European audiences. I’ve always loved the circus themed layouts and trains, especially the patience and endless variety of circus model builders. I’ve always had the idea of a circus module or scene that’s interchangeable with my layout. An American Flyer friend of mine had a modular layout, one module being a scene with the Flyer circus train and a Big Top sewn up by his wife who did a beautiful job. Dave

here is a side shot ( out of focus( I just can't seem to get it in focus ) of my 400E with the Stephen Girard Passenger cars behind it. What are you talking about? That drill bit, screws and screwdriver are in perfect focus. It's your phone. It wants to auto focus on the closest thing to you. Most phones have a feature to bypass this. If you tap once on the middle of your screen a circle should appear. Then move the circle by dragging it with your finger to what you want the camera lens to focus on. Notice how the chair is in focus and the computer screen is not.

Oh by the way... Here is my contribution to SSS. This is a custom painted and decaled hopper I made for a friend who is from Iowa.

So somehow I have to get it to focus on the moving train. I don't have problems with stationary items as a norm ( sometimes but not that often) Also doesn't help I don't really have any room to back away from the train. I'm only about 3' away.

I have the same problem with my little Nikon P5100 hybrid...despite monkeying with the settings, it’s just too slow to take a decent action shot. Doesn’t matter if it’s the layout or subjects outdoors, just too slow. I haven’t played with the iPhone enough to figure out how to speed it up.

Another piece of good advice from ron045; I am also relying on his decal placing advice in my current UP #2066 project when it comes to rivet details, which I sincerely hope I don't mess up.
While we're on the subject of camera focus, this side shot video is from a living room carpet layout from days long gone by. The full video was made to amuse my grown-up kids and is far too hokey to post, but looking at this extract now I'm surprised I kept everything in focus despite some considerable movement across the screen. However, I can't remember for sure but I think I used an old camcorder and not a smartphone for this. P.S. Until now I was never sure what those circles in the smartphone screen were when they appeared!

Well my android phone must be semi-smart as I can't figure how to send pics or videos from it to my computer or anything. Sorry I use a cell phone for phone uses and texting ( very little ( to receive codes when need them) and that is about it.

Wow fellas. Thanks for the compliments. My Dad used to tell me there are really very few times in life when you can "pay someone back" for things they have done for you. So really the best thing to do is share and pay it forward.
I started this hobby not knowing a darn thing. I have been very fortunate with meeting people willing to take the time to teach me or share their knowledge with me.
So I'm just following through on Dad's advice.
Vr Ron

Most of the German toy train makers offered a Kalkwagen car - a car specifically designed for carrying lime. Bing's earliest offering was hand painted and had an operating top loading hatch and a side unloading door. By 1908 the car was still hand painted and had an operating loading hatch but they had dropped the side door and replaced the body with embossing resembling wood with metal supports. By 1918 the hand painting had given way to all litho. What is interesting is all through the production the car was offered in this "weathered" form with a coating of lime dust (I particularly like the litho lime dust). A check of pictures of the actual prototype indicates even new cars will sport a coat of lime dust so Bing was just being true to prototype.

A few years ago Menards did the space ship that was stealing a farmers cows. Those cows were close to the right size, maybe Menards can offer a 6 pack to fill the stock cars. Bill
