Even though I personally deplore the “special announcements” being MTH’s normal modus-operandi now and going forward, I think it’s safe to conclude we won’t see much if anymore MTH tooling sales in the future.
Of course, the blurred line between MTH Premier and Atlas Premier is likely to continue. But if Mike knew MTH’s new business model sans catalog and warehouse inventory would have been this successful years ago, he never would have sold ANY tooling.

Seems like the new MTH has no problems in announcing new product almost on a weekly basis. Latest announcement is the Premier Z-6 Challenger. Bill www.youtube.com/user/seayakbill

With people dumping the latest Lionel NYC Dreyfuss hudson because what a surprise the paint is wrong for the MTH version and the current version of MTH going nowhere I see two things happening. MIKE will really retire one of these days, he's not getting any younger. Does MTH stay a three man show? One guy running production, one guy developing Electronics and one guy handling parts. Either MTH expands to meet demand or I see Atlas gobbling up what's left now they are all in with DCS.

Perhaps a revised title thread should be started to better reflect the content of the responses nd those who wish to discus the Phoenix like MTH business reemergence can continue to post here?

I love the look of flex Scale-Trax and thought it was the way to go for a more realistic pike. It turned out to be flimsy junk when working with it. I even soldered all the joints. There was also a lot of leveling effort to get it true, avoiding dips and getting it to appear straight. I guess if you have a perfectly generated track plan on a perfectly FLAT board you will have better luck. If you cut it, rails slide and are not secured requiring super glue to secure. I found the flex difficult to stay in the desired position when screwed on the edges. All the tie edges had to have Elmer's glue applied to secure in place. Raising it up with supports in a terrain situation is more difficult and tricky. A support is required every inch. Marrying its I rails to G.G. & Atlas was also tricky something no one has attempted before.Agree whole heartedly. My problem is I kept throwing good money over bad and now If I were to change track, I would need a small fortune. My son actually attempted it quite successfully on a siding. He used a thin piece of foam to raise the level of the Scaletrax and then used Atlas rail joiners and soldered them. He was 12 when he did this.

Thankfully, I have experienced none of these problems with MTH ScaleTrax. Were it not for the fact that the newly downsized MTH seems to no longer be making it, I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone building a PERMANENT layout. But times have changed.
To be perfectly candid, the choice of turnouts was always somewhat limited, however. But we encountered no problem mating ScaleTrax with Ross Custom switches in a couple of place on my layout as the need arose. Worked like a charm.

Funny you say but I know that when Rich decides to retire there are 3 guys at Atlas that ready and willing to buy the rest of MTH and bring it under the umbrella of AtlasO. This Is not me guessing or just saying this is going to happen---when the time comes it will happen. Dave
