On second thought, I would love a live steam set, maybe a 7.25 inch scale. That would be fun. Something I have always thought about. There is a live steam club with a nice track running through a property that they inherited not too far from here.

OK, I’ll give you something relatively modern, certainly not vintage as it only dates from 2007, and I am sure was based on K-Line tooling. It’s the Lionel 21” aluminum car Texas Special set, 6-31755, and my reason is that I have spent so much time working on just two of the cars (diner and observation), researching the train and maintaining the early Legacy engines that I could not bear to part with it:
This is an unfinished project. I have the add-on set (sleepers) too and have plans for those.

I don't blame you, I wouldn't have parted with it either. That is a sweet set.

Hmmm, this is a very existential question.
If I could only own one train set, it would probably be the one I did not have yet which means I would have no trains at all. Proving it is the destination after all and not the journey!
This is in keeping with other philosophical truisms such as I am therefor I exist, and What me Worry?

Similar to the age-old query, "If a tinplate locomotive falls off a shelf in the basement when no one is home, does it make any noise?"

The one set I would keep isn’t a “set” but one I put together. The locomotive and caboose and the freight cars I may sell the rest of the O gauge I have left but I will keep this train until I’m gone.

For me, it would be a more modern Texas Special set. I'm truly CB & Q guy...yet the chrome "colour" is kinda boring and not very vibrant. I guess I fall into the category if being a "Corporate Art" aficionado. Might be similar engines sitting side by side, yet its' the colour scheme that is appealing. Then there are the black and red European steam engines...ooo la la!

Yes redjimmy1955 : there's a matter for much hesitation... Then mine wouldn't be red and black, but apple green and black livery, plus Teak wood for the coaches : OACE
