With AtlasO making 2-8-0 your wish for Strasburg might come true. Hound them at York.
I'm light on diesels on my pike so I would love some first generation diesels with a fixed pilot/kadee option from either Lionel or AtlasO.
Some F3 or GP7/9 reisue in B&M or NYC would be nice.
Now that Atlas is using DCS in their motive power I'd be ok with and would love diesels with Legacy

I'm surprised that there are three USRA designs not yet made in 3-rail O: Heavy 4-8-2, light and heavy 2-10-2. The appeal of these is they could be done in multiple prototypical road names. For the Mountain, Lionel could do what they did with the Mikado and re-use the chassis of their light 4-8-2, tooling a new boiler shell. Just think, more room for more smoke units!

Agree I would love a heavy 4-8-2 in Rutland.

Kind of hoping to see Lionel/MTH bring out that nuclear powered Garrett 6-20-20-6 Big Boy in Conrail Central. Complete with AI cab talk and proper electron pulse rate synchronized to the after burners. And also the optional tender with extra real Uranium fuel.
And then they can release the matching Boeing 898 Land Bus passenger set.
And all for a paltry $400K (if your pre-order before 2030 and enclose a 70% non-refundable deposit).
And I heard that the first 10 sets would be personally autographed by Elon Musk himself.

Actually ... not as far fetched as it may seem! Anyone remember Lionel's ill-fated "Phantom Lines" sets? Weird loco and cars. Didn't last long, though. You don't see or hear about them anymore. Had strange loco sound effects, too! (click image to enlarge)

Or ... how about MTH's Coors train sets? (click image to enlarge)

On a more realistic side ... How come no one has reproduced the most popular and longest lived loco in a more contemporary type like the image below? These are done up as "Wild West" and "Civil War" locos, but only MTH made a contemporary one and it was really pricey. This loco would be ideal for small layouts, tight curves, yards and even local trains and short passenger trains. Maybe someone can make an affordable model of this, Like Menards possibly? Just make a basic loco with light, a smoker and whistle in the tender? Injection molded shell and added handrails would be enough. Shouldn't be too hard. The trusty 4-4-0 "AMERICAN"! The "Timex" of steam locos! These locos lasted into the late 1940s and even early 1950s to the end of steam. (click image to enlarge)
