On display at the Central Trolley Stop are two beautiful models. To the left is the 1956 Buick Century (made by Brooklin), a previous model made for our club. To the right is the gorgeous 1954 Packard Caribbean (made by Automodello). This is current club model, and they are still some available for purchase in the shop.

My first job as an Engineer was with Rexall Chemical. They later merged with El Paso Chemical and name was changed to El Rexene. The Rexall car I made by stripping and repainting, decaling. The company made Styrene Plastic pellets for molding as well as impact plastic, (OPS) as well as oriented sheet. It was at this plant were I worked were we built a Pilot Plant for foam plastic pellets using Butane to get by a patent used by other plants who were using propane to make foam pellets used to make Styrofoam cups, cartons and plates which were becoming a success. It was here a week before Thanksgiving 1972, the procedure had been a success. Me and another Hourly worker were getting the unit ready for shutdown when it exploded. Hourly worker made it out safely, I was trapped inside when floor after floor and vessels were coming down and exploding. I was surrounded by fire when a sudden explosion came and I went unconscious. They found me in the field safety glasses burned into my face as was safety helmet. Most my clothes and shoes were gone. 6 month recovery 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns. 2 years later I went to work for Amoco.

A day late but here is everything ( standard Gauge anyway rearranged )
I still have another Orange passenger car I'm repainting to complete the set of Orange passenger cars. Wrong engine should be an Orange 9E same as the green engine on top shelf in this pic but Orange.

...and down the tubes we go again; that might have been the worst performance in quite a while.

I feel for all you people from Maryland. However, it's much worse to be a Bears fan, as they named the NFC Trophy after George Halas.

Wait and see.

harborbelt70, thank you for the detailed post with both historical background and personal perspective. What a disappointment to find destructive corrosion. Alfred

harborbelt70, thank you for the detailed post with both historical background and personal perspective. What a disappointment to find destructive corrosion. Alfred I think that I have figured out how to remedy it but at no small cost. Adding yet another repair job to my already long Lionel/MTH list does not make me think kindly of either of them. But that's a subject for another day.
