I got my 33/35/36 set from a dear old friend that passed away in the middle of refurbishing it. He had for the most part completed the 33, but the 35 and 36 were still as found...rough. I cleaned those off, then a repaint in a dark olive (which looked like the original color). I salvaged the original "stained glass", repainted the windows and steps, then Don Carver got me some dry transfers to finish them off. I have another 35 coach around here that I might just polish up and run as is. This is the first standard gauge set I got, and it has seen frequent use under the Christmas tree over the years. It's too bad Charlie didn't live long enough to finish it; hopefully he'd like the results of our efforts.

I have had a busy afternoon. My shelves on the right side of the room are spaced for O gauge. I already claimed the top shelf for Standard Gauge but wanted another shelf for more Standard Gauge. I have them mounted with 2 1/2" L brackets. So I figured remove trains from top shelf and move the shelf up to where bottom hole is now in top hole should give me the room I need. Well kinda/kinda not. I haven't tried a 500 serries on the new shelf but I have about 1/4" clearance for the 200 serries box cars, So they will go on top shelf and I will try the 500 serries tomorrow. I feel they should fit with a little more room. Pics will follow later.

I suspect interest in modern tinplate is comparatively low, as evidenced by MTH's suspension of production even before announcing MW's "retirement" and the restructuring of the business. The last few items I pre-ordered from them never made it into production for lack of orders. That and the fact that good operator quality original equipment is now increasingly available at a relatively lower cost has me doubting a return to the catalog. As far as the LCCA set, you are probably referring to the Lakeshore Limited set Lou Caponi designed for LCCA a decade or so ago. It is a great set, maybe the best he ever came up with. Ours hits the layout occasionally: There is a set for sale on Stout Auctions. It goes off tomorrow 1/25/24. Current bid is $400. I was interested but not sure what the shipping cost would be.

Yup, I got a note from Jr Junction in Syracuse, NY, advising that MTH was doing a run; I have two pair of original Lionel manual turnouts that satisfy my needs, but it’s always good to have alternatives for those who want something a bit newer.

Well I made a slight adjustment to the top shelf to make room on next shelf down for standard gauge trains, well for some yes but most not quite enough so I need to redo-it another 1 1/2" higher and all will be set.
The green set below ( Stephen Girard ) fit except the engines pantograph and lights, so it had to go to top shelf for now.
And the 200 serries top shelf was so tight only way to get it on second shelf would be to load and unload from open far end. The crane would never fit and neither would most of my engines.

Sold for $600 plus commission and shipping. So, I guess the total cost would be well over $700.

Not a bad price, really, given the original price and the relatively few sets that were made.

Alfred Both. the top shelf I have raised twice. should of measured to determine how much I needed to raise but in reality it was probably easier doing it twice than measuring and trying to hold it level and moving it up the whole way from beginning. What I did is put bottom hole where top hole was for first raise then did it again for second raise, this way was able to move 8' board level twice without any help or cussing
