If you were around the hobby when Atlas-O kicked into gear, then you know what it's like to have been afflicted with Reefer Madness at one point or another. It's a serious disease, and I thought for sure I had successfully beat it -- right up until the NJ HiRailers announced a "Rheingold" reefer produced by MTH, which immediately hearkened me back to the days of Shea Stadium when I was a died-in-the-wool NY Mets fan. Ah yes.... those "amazing Mets" from 1969... fun childhood memories, and I recall vividly that Rheingold Beer was the official beer of the NY Mets for years. The nostalgic tug was too much... and I succumbed to ordering both road-numbers of this offering. Although club cars have been notoriously jinxed lately with multi-year production delays, MTH's track record for delivering such offerings has been excellent. And the NJHR club is as stand-up as you can find these days. So I gambled on the pre-order / pre-payment, and USPS delivered both reefers yesterday. Very pleased with these sharp-looking cars... graphics and details are excellent without the car seeming too fragile to handle. So I'm a happy camper. Here are some quick iPhone photos of the reefers -- two on the display shelf and one on the layout where one of the reefers fit in just right amidst a string of Atlas-O MasterLine reefers from the early Atlas-O days: David

Those are great cars but I can't help but notice that the underside detail on the bridge in David's third photo is fantastic.

Being a New England reefer, I wouldn't mind picking up one.

I have my favorite beer Old Milwaukee reefers (24 or a case of them). Lionel was suppose to come out with new ones and I’m still awaiting them.
