Picked up the Menards clear & lighted hopper this past weekend at my local Menards, it was an internet order delivered to the store . My 2 cents opinion, it is interesting and very cool, but for me, really not sure I want a lighted hopper running around the layout. This freight car has a lot of possibilities, a 6 pack in red & green lighted hoppers for the Christmas Train would be a big time winner. A lot of Christmas trains running during the Holidays. It certainly is an eyecatcher and would be a favorite for the kids.
My plan for the hopper is to sit it on a powered section of track next to the Menards cow catching flying saucer and light it up occasionally along with the flying saucer. The lighted hopper looks better at a distance than zipping close by where you can see the innards.
Anyways, it sold out very quickly so I am guessing the folks at Menards Trains probably has other plans for this type of fantasy freight car.
