That primer does help those "in the club" tells what going on and its helpful. York is still mainly a members meet. Perhaps they will change after the attendance figures decline. The total cost to attend is non-competitive when compared to other shows and events. For TCA's information; just about all craft, flower shows, flea markets, train shows, and car shows are all open to the public. Events made for people to buy things never have restricted attendance based on club membership for a reason. It boils down to intelligent business sense.

York is still mainly a members meet. Yup, it began as a members' meet and likely will return to being the same (a number of buildings are open to the general public these days). I have no problem with it, myself. I go to hang out with members, buy a few things from members, maybe swap a few things with members, learn a few things from fellow members, and then have lunch or dinner with members. I am a member. First and foremost, York is a meet of the members. Become one...you'll love it!

Reading the primer is that it looks like the attendance numbers have stabilized
- April 2022: 7,500 - October 2022: 7,450 - April 2023: 7,200 - October 2023: 7,370
For comparison, April 2007: 14,325

We're all set for the York Meet!!
Flight arrangements have been made. Both hotels and the rental car have been secured and the badges are already in their holders!!
In addition to the York Meet festivities we got tickets for the Philadelphia Flyers vs. Washington Capitals and the Philadelphia Phillies vs. Chicago White Sox while we're in the area. Adding in the visit with our daughter and grandson it'll be a full week! And I'm sure there will be some other activities scheduled on the fly.
All the fun starts earlier with the San Diego Padres opening day and weekend ballgames and the Billy Joel concert the week before York.
And I can wait. I'm not going to wish the time away, I'm going to soak in all the fun as it happens!

Strasburg Railroad is nearby and a nice ride for the family. It you want to venture 2 hours west the East Broad Top is another great ride on the narrow gauge. Do the back shop tour. Worth every penny.

To reiterate for those of you who have missed the point of TCA membership. In a way it is INDEED a club! If one bothered to read the history and reasons for being a member of the TCA, it MIGHT dawn on you that the TCA isn't truly an exclusive club at all. In the past few years, becoming a member has been simplified. We don't have secret words or hand gestures to mystify the public. We do have guidelines; code of ethics (there are unscrupulous members - I've encountered a few); and generally there is a celebratory atmosphere and some tomfoolery by myself and others such as clubs that have invited me to hang out. With a bit of "CRITICAL" thinking, you'll see the membership fee and attendance fee helps pay for renting the York halls. If one bothered to read how TCA started, and its' mission, it was NEVER wholly born to "buy things"! Its the "bought or traded things" that stay in my car trunk until Mrs. Red Jimmy is fast asleep. Then the "checking the faucet drip" somehow begets a trip to my car!

Worth every penny. Make no small plans I always say, Ron! I used to live about a half hour drive from Strasburg and went there frequently. We used to do a day at Strasburg then drive out to the Horseshoe Curve in Altoona for a weekend. I miss doing that. Out here I still need to check out the Tehachapi Loop and Beaumont Hill and ride the length of the Amtrak Surfliner. Now that East Broad Top has been reborn that trip is on my list.

San Diego has already started the season. They are 1-1 Eddie, as a season ticket holder I’m well aware of that! But I wasn’t going to South Korea to see the games. And with a 3am start time I wasn’t watching on tv either, LOL!! But tomorrow is the home opener. My brother in law and his family from Fresno are going with us to Friday night’s game because they are Giants fans.

Thanks for Soto, he’s working out very well He’s a great player and fun to watch. But the Yankees will only have him for this season. Juan Soto will be a free agent after this season, which is why the Padres traded him. He wasn’t going to resign with the Padres just like he wasn’t going to sign with the Washington Nationals when they traded him to San Diego.
He’ll probably be playing for the Mets next year and beyond.

The Yankees will re-sign him. They certainly have a shot. They have the money, and Soto might like playing in Yankee stadium a lot

Soto prefers big money more than what team he plays for. Or else he would have taken the 400 million dollar contract from the Nationals. He wants more than that. He wants Otani money, maybe more.
