AF3020, don't let the beer spill onto the tracks - never mind, it may work as a good track cleaner. Alfred

What’s on the tracks? Nothing yet; however, there will be soon. Today, I spent part of the day organizing boxes of train items in the closet in my new train room, and also laying out some track on the floor to get an idea of the size of the table top that will fit the largest outer loop. I will likely get a train on the tracks on Thursday. This is the first occasion since November when I took down my layout in the house we just moved from, that I had some ‘guilt free’ time – that is, I wanted to take care of other responsibilities before I began to play. I inaugurated my new train room by making a 6’ x 13’ loop of post war Lionel o gauge track on the carpeted floor and running my 736 2-8-4 Berkshire and Lionel Lines tender with Silver Series aluminum cars (coach, dome and observation; 2533 Cloud, 2532 Range, 2531 Dawn) using a KW; all ca. 1953. It is great running trains again. I plan to make an inner loop and simultaneously run a steam freight. After I decide on the basic track plan, I will get lumber and do the table. Some observations: I have never heard my trains run without making a racket – to this point, my layouts have had track directly on plywood – which amplified the sound in the attic which had a wooden plank floor and no drywall. Also, the train ran flawlessly and smoothly; and the E-Unit changes were almost imperceptible. Aah, the familiar odor of smoke, and the plaintiff whistle. Life is good. Alfred

Bill, that SF color scheme is a favorite. Alfred Yep, I have a number of the Santa Fe Bonnets, but the Texas Rose, Yellow Bonnets is my favorite. Red Bonnets by Lionel and Menards Blue Bonnets from Menards Yellow Bonnets from MTH Gold Bonnets from MTH Black Bonnets from K-Line Never had them all on the layout at the same time, should do it. Bill, I like the idea of having all of your SF color schemes on the layout at once. Alfred

I think I should review my spelling book - I misspelled what should have been 'plantive' (mournful) as plantiff. Alfred

Since inaugurating my train room with a 6’ x 12’ track loop on the floor, I have added concentric 5’ x 10’ and 4’x 6’ loops. Yesterday, I ran a steam consist with a post war Lionel 2046 SF-type Hudson with whistle tender and box cars ending in a lighted N5c porthole caboose on the next smaller loop. The loco ran superbly. Within the next few days, I will run my post war S2 Turbine with a ‘work’ train consist on the smallest loop. I am still imagining the final layout design. Alfred
