I forgot that I bought this calf at the local train show a few weeks ago. It pairs well with my SW9 for long haul trips. The different color trucks are a little annoying, but I can live with it. Adam inspired me to follow through on some long forgotten plans. I have a few SW switchers and I wanted to pair them up with some Calf units. My first one is a MTH SW8 in NYC black. I found a calf unit and picked it up. The number doesn’t match, but it really doesn’t matter, as the NYC never owned calf units. Just a set that looks good together, just like Adam’s Boston and Maine set. The calf number matches an earlier MTH version that had Protosounds only… Tom

Just bought this on e bay, it is a really nice car. Top comes off, the rolls of steel are nicely etched to look like real rolled steel.

Never had a SF F3 In the warBonnet scheme until around 2003. It was a Lionel scale detailed ABBA 16c with tmcc, cruise and scale detail. It was great. During one of my moves it went missing and I never recovered it. Well this past week I found a set of ABA with the double A's and a powered 18 B. Ill be looking for the non powered B and will put the train back together after more than twenty years.

Great acquisitions guys.
Tom, the mismatched numbers wouldn’t bother me either nor the fact that the NYC never had calf units.

Tom, Keith, Dave, - nice acquisitions. Dave, glad to hear of your ABA reunion. As for me, I did not make it to the local model train warehouse this weekend, where I intended to buy about 24 pieces of O72 track and perhaps some tressles. Alfred

I recall my grandmother keeping a tin of “Old Dutch Cleanser” by the kitchen sink when I was a kid. Is that Lionel? Neat car...

I agree, may not be a perfect match not prototypical but doesn’t matter because it looks great!

I found the matching cow shell (same number) on a PS1 unit. I am debating swapping shells but the various small details wouldn’t quite match. If I do an exchange, some minor painting will be required, like on the small handrails and bell… Tom

dennym57, does the Old Dutch Cleanser car have asymmetric advertising - different ads on opposite car sides - like the Atlas models?
