Most of of my purchases nowadays are from live online auctioneers (Stout, Cabin Fever),eBay or when attending large train shows. I very seldom buy new trains from brick and mortar shops as I only operate and collect pre-1969 trains. I do buy entire Lionel collections on occasion if they are primo. I don't run newspaper ads, go to local flea markets or local yard sales - the train scene in my area (Cnetral Arkansas) is pretty bleak.

Ricky, except for eBay, I have not used live auctioniers. Like you, I do not have any of the 'newer' digital equipment; I run exclusively early post war Lionel (primarily before 1955). Alfred

I’m in a similar hobby situation, with most of my train gear coming by mail (including pre-internet days). I downloaded the LiveAuctioneers app and now I’m sorely tempted by lots of lovely tinplate, but haven’t picked anything up yet. Being in Canada I have to really watch the dollar exchange and shipping costs. How do you find the Stouts and Cabin Fever etc., when it comes to buyers’ premiums and such? Do you keep limits in mind with all the extra costs? Dave
