I have decided to return this item also and just slowly look for another down the road, now weather I buy from Trainz again who knows but think I will hold off for a while anyway. I have come to the conclusion there is more wrong than I first realized, part of gear jamming because either wheel put on crooked or axle is slightly bent, as I can see the wheel and gear move in and out from the frame.

I have bought 4 locos from them and 2 passenger cars from them. No problems with any of the items. I only buy the item after I thoroughly read the description of the item and look at the photos carefully.

Well Chuck they may have been in business since 1975, but some of them still don't know anything about trains. They make a lot of mistakes in their listings.

This is a very timely thread. I have been looking for a Lionel post war Lackawanna FM Trainmaster 2321 (1954-6 gray). I missed an opportunity two weeks ago, to buy one through Grzbosky Train store, but missed buying it by one day; it seemed to have been a good price for an operating unit. While searching, I found one by Trainz on eBay, a seller I was not familiar With. When I came across this thread, I went to their site and realized what a big outfit it was. There are mixed reviews in this thread. What is your opinion of buying this diesel from them? I have included the link. If I could get some opinions, I would appreciate it. I can’t see the images. I have not called them about its operating condition. Would this help, or are they too large/ uninformed? If you make a recommendation about the unit, and I decide to buy it, and it is a bust, I won’t hold that against you – it’s ultimately my decision, and I’ll bear the consequences. Thanks in advance. Alfred (PS, if you know of another source, please let me know.) www.trainz.com/products/lionel-2321-vintage-o-lackawanna-fm-trainmaster-diesel-gray-roof-version-vg-5#ProductInfo-template--14203333214330__main

People in the past have reported not getting the item pictured. That being said I would guess their inventory is large enough to replace an item that doesn't work.

I'm prepared to say that that would be good enough for me if I was looking for this specific item. Only you (Alfred) can judge whether it is worth the price but I would not think you'll track down anything better any time soon on other sites.

Unless stated as is no returns They are very good about taking items back if there is a problem. The problem they state about the front truck turning left and right might just be a simple piece, I know the GP7/9's had a horseshoe looking piece and if it was missing would do that. It sounds like you might be in good with this. check there site to see if they have this listed, a lot of times they do it on ebay and there site, you can beat out a bidding war if they do.

harborbelt70, rtraincollector, mopac, Thanks for your input. Judging from some of the comments, there was info I must have missed - all good to know. There have been other units out there that have been pretty pricy - over $400. Your feedback has been very helpful. I'll keep you posted. Alfred

mopac, Thanks for the eBay link. Even though the price is the same as the listing on the Trainz website, the description is different and the rating is lower(there are missing items on the shell). I am going to call to check this out to make sure there isn't any confusion. Alfred (PS there is a 10% discount if you buy on May 29th.))

I have had nothing but an excellent buying experience with Scott and Trainz over the past 20 years. Excellent customer service! I have noticed that recently Trainz has been listing items with some crazy prices on eBay. They do eventually relist with a lower price a couple of times, then, finally list the item with a opening bid of 0.99! It is truly a HUGE operation. Perhaps the largest of its type in the US.
