I’m a big fan of switcher engines. They are the workhorse of the yard and the models pack a lot of fun in a small package. Share your favorite switchers. I’ve got several so will post a few along the way. For now I share this Inland Steel SW1 by MTH.

My favorite switcher must be the post war Lionel 627 Lehigh Valley GE44, since it is the only switcher I have (frowning face) I will feature it at some point in a photo or video heading a consist that I have wanted to put together for a long time. Alfred .

I like my chunky little switchers, namely a Lionel docksider and a Williams GE 44-tonner. I’ve been known to throw yard work to the wind and occasionally run them double-headed on the main line. Dave

This is the only switcher I have. It's a conventional engine from a Lionel starter set.

The AT&SF NW2 6220 is one of two bell ringing switchers produced by Lionel (1949-50); the other being the 622, the O gauge equivalent. A small bell inside the diesel would sound As the train travelled along the track, producing a continuous and frequent 'ding'. I don't have one of these. Alfred

Lionel made that engine (along with everything powered by a vibrotor motor) to drive parents crazy. I find train bells incredibly irritating. After a minute or two of listening to that I'd be ready for the loony bin. 😵💫 I almost never use bells with my trains. I have crossing flashers but not bells to go with them.

This 0-6-0 is my favorite and does 80% of my switching and making up my trains for mainline runs.
