Inspired by JDekan’s Front End Fridays and Side Shot Saturdays, and Harborbelt70’s suggestions, I am presenting Topside Tuesdays, since there is likely detail on engines and inside of passenger cars, that deserve a view. In the attached photo is the topside view of my Lionel 2-8-4 Berkshire 736 locomotive with tender. (A surprise gift from my uncle when I was six – it is my all-time favorite.) The coolest feature (aside from the metallic whistle – forward left of cab) is the movable ornamental bell (behind left of smokestack - shown here in a forward position. This version was probably manufactured 1950-1953. It has circular flagstaff bases on the pilot. The loco was tuned up about a year ago; however, I have not run it since then. I want to run the other engines I have with different consists before I run this, to make sure the tracks are OK. I tend to run the equipment I value and like the most the least. I guess I don’t like the idea of wearing them out or breaking them. I know, it is a peculiar way of thinking – I should just go ahead and enjoy them. Alfred PS I take photos and videos non-visually. So, if something isn’t right, please let me know. In the accompanying photo, is the whole loco and tender visible? Can I get a better close-up? Thanks. Alfred

Great idea for a thread Alfred!
Your photo is great but could be taken a bit more to the right. You cut off the very tail end of the tender.

OK, I am up for this, although for starters I'll stick with structures. This is the roof of my Santa Fe station:
For context here is a production photo of one of these when they were still being made by TW Trainworx:
I'll explain the morass of wiring partly visible in this in another thread (about my infernal Legacy ground plane issue), but can anyone guess which monster MTH diesel this is?

Alfred
I love the look of straight down onto the engine. Interesting look. What caught my eye first was you can not see the track between the engine and tender. Either cab has extended roof or there is a walk plate between them. Nice Job. Thank you for the picture! Curtis

Well done on all counts Curtis! You or anyone else up for another challenge? This is the top view of the most perfectly detailed steamer I have ever had or ever will. It came from Scott Mann many years ago for less than what Lionel is trying to soak people for nowadays to get a set of plastic box-/passenger cars. My photos have never done this model justice but a side view is available to be posted later (and I'll cheat a little and also give you one of Scott's production sample photos mainly of the tender):

Here's a much better topside view of the steamer I mentioned above. Note the woodgrain on top of the tender:

Great thread idea, Alfred 👍👍 Here’s an overhead view that’s a little different - it’s a vintage Standard Gauge Lionel #35 passenger car after a 24-hour bath in citrus degreaser. Look at that shiny tinplate! I did a 35 Pullman and a 36 Observation car - sadly the shine is all gone now that I’ve primed them. Dave

Well Harborbelt it is a SP Cab Forward Oil Burner Well done again, Curtis - and it has a face only a dog owner would like:
It's an SP AM-2, 4-6-6-2. I've never figured out (or asked) why the shiny wheels fore, aft and on the tender.
