One last statement on my part...I will keep and use my Realtrax. I have all 042 which will go nicely with my 042 capable engines, and my 15 inch passenger cars.Aside from that, I have a boxcar/ reefer addiction....no not weed! I will purchase the miniwelder as shown to us Forumites by Jetguy. Sometime in the winter, I'll post about the RR layout. Again, thx to Jetguy, all of you Forumites for your sage advice. Savous!!
Glad we could help. NOW DON"T FORGET TO POST PICTURES! LOL

Hello folks....I will be starting to build a layout using all this Realtrax that I have unfortunately accumulated. Now Jetguy recommended a mini welder which will get me through dealing with the misaligned crappy end connections. My REAL WORRY is will the RealTrax switches fail after all this track is installed. My gut feeling, after owning this junk, having about $1400.00 worth, after setting up several Carpet Centrals....is why bother using the RealTrax if the switches are unreliable. I think I should go with ol' reliable tubular...Any thoughts are appreciated. I AM NEW TO THE FORUM SO WHATEVER FLOATS YUR BOAT USE IT. I USE 027 PROFILE TRACK IN 027- 042-054 AND 072. MY LAYOUT IS 15 BY 18 SO A LOT OF LONG 3 FT. STRAIGHTS. ALSO USE 042 SWITCHES AND 027 SWITCHES FOR YARDS. MY LIONEL TRAINMASTERS(7 OF THEM) DONT NEED TO GO INTO YARDS CUZ I HAVE PLENTY OF SWITCHERS. I LIKE THE 027 PROFILE CUZ IT LOOKS GREAT ON TOP OF CORK ROADBED BALLASTED. THE LOW PROFILE IS ALSO GREAT. THERE ARE NO POWER ISSUES FOR MY TRACK. MY GG1'S AND F-3'S NEGOTIATE ALL CURVES AND SWITCHES(I HAVE 29 SWITCHES). OF COURSE NUMEROUS POWER CLIPS THROUGHOUT SO THERE IS NO POWER LOSS. I RECCOMEND TUBULAR IF YOU CAN FIND IT.

I don't think I've ever heard of Profile track. Can you post a photo?

I don't think I've ever heard of Profile track. Can you post a photo? it's the original O27 style track, some people use that terminology to describe that track with the features of O27 but a different diameter. . You really can't say your using O72 meaning it's O27 track with a 72" diameter

I don't think I've ever heard of Profile track. Can you post a photo? sorry, I meant 027 is a lower profile than 031.

I used K-Line Shadowrail on my old layout. I wish they still made it. On my current layout I use Lionel FasTrack . The Legacy FasTrack LCS 5 SensorTrack makes things get interesting really quick.
