armytranger, Great stuff - can't beat the PW equipment. My first box car was the B&O auto carrier, it tops my list. Awesome about that 2500 consist! My first passenger cars were in the 2500 series - they are a favorite of mine. Alfred

Brian, Great choice of steam units. Like the PRR equipment. GG1 is a classic - I saw and photographed many decades ago. Great passenger sets. Alfred

Harborbelt77, An ecclectic selection. I like the idea that you make modifications. Alfred

Alfred, I've always been a hands on guy. Enjoy fixing things I have. Main reason I've always had PW trains. Know enough about electronics to get into trouble. Fingers too big to fuss with circuit boards and the like. Hope I can always buy/find PW parts. Have a new Silverado 3500 HD than I can hardly change plugs on. Also have a 1970 Chevelle SS LT1 350 4-speed that I can fix anything on. Paid $3100 for it in 1970!! 48000 original miles. Love that car. The pre-1955 PW engines and rolling stock are the best for sure. Few years ago I snagged a bunch of staple-end trucks on ebay. A few of the 6464 series boxcars and others have the tabs on the trucks. Junk as far as I'm concerned. Swapped them with the staple-end trucks. Now that I'm old and retired I have to be working on something to keep my sanity!! LOL

Curtis, the fire training passenger car is one I have not heard of. Alfred If my memory is correct, I think it may have come in a set. I will have to check.

Rob, I can't imagine anything better to keep your sanity than using PW O gauge trains and accessories. That ABBA pulling 12 2500 passenger cars was impressive how many units were powered? I have never seen a passenger consist with that many aluminum cars. Question: How much downward play should there be in the pilot truck of a S2 6-8-6? I am having a derailing problem (always the leading wheel on the fireman side) that is going off the track. Is there not enough tension in the spring, or is the truck itself not fitted properly - there seems to be a lot of space and 'droop' in the front part of the truck when the loco is picked up.. Thanks Alfred (If you have a 671, would you take a look?)

Alfred: The F3 ABBA with 2500 series cars is powered only by the lead F3. I had to change original bulbs with LED bulbs. I put pick ups in both "B" units so they are lite up two. Put LED's in the two A units also. It did pull about 6.3A at first. Now with the change to LED's it only pulls 4A. Plus I use Red N Tacky on the worm gears and Hoppes gun oil on the axles. It is impressive looking on the long outside loop when the lights are out. I have both 681 and 682. When the locos are picked up the front trucks dont really "droop". They hang level with .220" gap tween the boiler and top edge of truck. The stud that holds the truck #671-81 has a "wing nut" style end that holds the truck level. This can be turned in either direction to take the truck off. There should be a clip washer #671-33 tween the spring and the truck frame. Spring tension is hard to judge. When locos turned upside down the spring isnt strong enough to hold the truck up. Not sure if this helps or not. Rob

If the truck is drooping down alot makes me wonder if the wings on the stud are thru the slot in the truck. Also are they perpendicular to the slot in the truck. Are the wings missing? Rob

Rob, Your comments are very helpful - I now know what to look for. I'll report back after I do some investigating and adjusting. Very nice work on theF3/2500 consist. I have only 3 2500's (33, 32, 31), and run them with incandescent bulbs and Burlington Route 2328. I have not run them with my 736 Berkshire since it was tuned up. (I had wanted to illuminate my SF 218 dummy, but have not found the pick-ups. ) Thanks for your S2 comments. Alfred

I love all my trains so it's hard to pick a favorite but I'll give it a try.
Steam locomotive: Railking New York Central Commodore Vanderbilt.
Diesel Locomotive: Railking New York Central Jade Green Cigar Band E8 AA set.
Passenger cars: Railking 20th Century Limited set.
Freight cars: Boxcars are my favorite type of freight car but I don't know that I have a single favorite boxcar.
Accessory: Lionel Water Tower Hobo Camp.
Other: The OGF is a big part of my enjoyment of the hobby.
Disclaimer: If you ask me this question next week I might give different answers.
