I have been repainting some MTH 19th century cars and adding/upgrading some details… This 34’ car was painted with Tamiya red-brown paint and decaled for the Long Island Railroad. I also added a brake platform and a new brake wheel and stem. The car was weathered afterward… Another MTH car that started as a MTH 2000 club car. I stripped it and repainted it with Scalecoat II boxcar red paint. It is lettered for the St.L.I.M&S railroad. The decal set came from K4 decals. They sell a nice selection of vintage railroad decals. This car also received a new brake wheel and stem, plus a scratch built brake platform. No weathering for this car, just a flat black wash overall… Finally, a MTH Bobber caboose I repainted for the Long Island Railroad. I gave it a couple washes with thinned flat black paint. This cabin car may receive some frame work to make installation of PRR type caboose steps. Tom

Some recent 19th century car projects. Here are a few cars I stripped and repainted. They were all the silver and purple MTH commemorative cars. I stripped them, added some details and painted them. Decaled with K4 decal sets… This car has a MTH factory paint scheme I liked. I added the details and weathered it… I found Vallejo washes are very good for the weathering process. They come in different shades depending on the color you wish to age. I used five different washes on this car. Tom

Now, I don't know what they looked like to begin with but silver and purple does not appeal to me in a boxcar (or anything) and you've made masterpieces out of these. I wish I had your skills!
