Did you ever get to the point where you just went to your layout and did no work but simply ran trains? Sometimes I do when I am really stressed. Last Friday I went upstairs and looked at the layout and said "Curtis why don't you just run and switch some trains". Three hours later I realized I needed to get back to work. DUH!

Absolutely! That’s what the trains are for.

I run trains far more often than I work on the layout. I have some projects that will eventually get done but they are low priority while running trains and enjoying the layout is high priority.

Many timed, Curtis. The trains running in beautiful scenery easy to have tome pass by quickly. Most enjoyable.
Wonderful topic.

Many times also. Especially in the evenings after supper me and the wife will sit there with a cup of tea and relax watching and hearing the trains go by. Its also a good catch-up on conversations. PS-We don't watch that much TV.

I play every day if I can. I just love watching trains run and while that is going on I look for ideas on what i can do next to improve the layout. Your never too old to play!!!!

Work, family life, and other responsibilities prevent me from playing with the trains every day. But I do have a regular Sunday evening run, takes my mind off of the forthcoming Monday work day. I also try to get in the train room at least one other time during the week to run trains and tinker.

Right now I am in a 'working phase'. I am almost done. I can't wait to get back to playing; although, I do take breaks when the work is going slow to run trains on the part of the layout that is still active. My wife has noticed that I have been doing alot of work - she has not herd the racket from the attic. When she asked me 'When are you going to make the trains go round and round?, it reminded me that I need to get back to playing. Alfred

I run trains pretty much every day. I'm trying to get one of my engines back on the track. I need to replace the smoke unit fan motor, but none of the motors I have work. Why do I still have them you might ask. I don't have a logical answer.

Absolutely, I have to remind myself why I'm spending 30 hours of my weekend painting, gluing, cutting, and shaping.

Absolutely, I have to remind myself why I'm spending 30 hours of my weekend painting, gluing, cutting, and shaping. I think the same sometimes - maybe I’ll definitely run trains tomorrow!🤣

I am close to finishing one of the 'getting back to running' layout upgrades. However, each time one of the components gets finished, I come up with another idea - just causes a delay in getting back to playing. However, as I am working, I am doing imaginative playing. Tonight may mark a work milestone. Tomorrow will likely be a play session. Alfred

Guilty. My scenery and extra track work has stalled completely. I haven't got over the novelty of actually having a running layout - it's been a long time.

DennyM57, Non-working motors? I have trouble getting rid of stuff – I think that I may make use of something later. I am getting better; however, I keep regressing when in fact I get something off an item that I have kept for years. Alfred
