Thanks Joe. This was one that just seemed to come together in a good way. The decals were a challenge but the Tamiya clear coat really made the grade.

I got to a home improvement store on Saturday and got a pack of the loop style wire lugs - I want to make sure that the ground and track connections don't slip off the transformer binding posts. I got some heat shrink for a UCS controller re-wiring. Also, I picked up two SPDT toggle switches. One is going to be used as a on/off switch for a parallel wired set of three separate isolating track sections that will give me a block on the West side and a block on the East side of the layout. The other toggle is for an on/off control of a horn that will sound when a train is entering or leabing the elevated track section. Alfred to

Today, I received my order for some small parts. I got a switch controller for a spare O22 left turnout. I will not install it until I give more thought to the purpose and location I have chosen. There were peripherals for operating box cars: 7 magnetic milk cans for a 3462, 6 crates for a 3454, and a figure for a 3484. I also got a replacement diesel horn that I will hook up to sound when a train enters or leaves (from either direction) a graduated track section that is part of a reversing loop. There are a few more odds and ends that I will purchase soon. No big ticket items in the near future. Alfred

More small items today. I got a 6 terminal strip. I mounted it on the layout top next to the V transformer. I ran wires to the A through D binding posts and to common. In this way, I can use my speech-enabled multimeter to set the voltages on the 2 switch systems and accessories. Also, 2 SPDT toggles - for isolating two parallel tracks on the East side of the layout. I intend to bring a train running in the Eastside block into the outer track and cut power. Then bring a train running in the Westside block into the inner track and cut power. Then I can bring the first train to the West to run in the Westside block. Alfred

Got some parts for my Williams engines, got some from Bachmann, yes they still have some parts in stock. Also some from a friend who had some. Ebay has some parts also but beware of the prices, some guys must be plating them in gold. Know what your buying.

My items from Menards arrived and I had a chance to open and check them out today. Menards is in my sweet spot from a price perspective. With one kid in college and another not far behind along with other expenses (not to mention inflation) my budget for trains isn’t very high. It works out to about $200 per month, enough for me as I really don’t need or want very much. Menards continues to really surprise me. I got 8 items for about $160, including shipping! Can’t believe the value. Here they are. Pennsy and Canadian boxcars. Two army flats, one with a half track and another with a tank that lights up! These will go great in my Menards army consist. All these rolling stock items are fantastic. But to me, the cars take the cake! Furry in cream, check out those rims! Orange swept side pickup. Love this color. Red and Army Power Wagons. The red is my favorite!

Great acquisitions Adam. I don’t have a favorite. They are all way cool! 👍 Like i said, Menards seems to be stepping up their game. While the cars have plastic frames with die cast bodies and will never match the detail of higher end models, the detail and paint job far exceed the expectations for something around $5. Nowhere else can you find such a deal.
