Wow! You guys are talented. This is a great thread. I'm working with plaster cloth this weekend. Also made a photo-realistic stone wall underground backdrop. Emile Halloween layout in the making? Not this year. I lost a lot of modeling time getting the OGF up and running with Wood and PTC. So I’m jumping straight into Christmas mode. Emile

WOW, YUZ GUYZ got it going on with the foam and plaster cloth!!!!
Question? What do you use for dirt? Real or Scenic Express? I will be looking for stuff at YORK to finish scenery between the rails on my three loops. I was thinking of using real dirt sifted and then adding green grass along with buffalo tufts, and putting in rocks and tree branches and shrubbery? Any thoughts what to use between tracks?

happy October all tammie and I have been busy the first 4 photos are of farm area that tammie worked on until 2:30 am today! the 3rd and 4th photo shows some orange pumpkins that are actually from our fig tree! but they look like pumpkins with the raised areas.some of the fencing in photos 1&2 are plastic ville type repainted and the old pole style tammie made all I did was drill the holes in them for fishing line to be strung from pole to pole and then I drilled holes in layout table and slid the poles in to stay upright and solid. the last 2 photos is of the foam board area of tv backdrop the face of tunnel portals was a challenge to get it all cut and fitted the one thing I had to allow is the dark hole you see at far left just below upper track platform I will have to cut a piece and caulk the seam as no way to get that piece past the wood table supporting the upper level tracks this section I was able to get done the first attempt at cutting it all and this piece will not be removeable. the bottom tunnel portal is wide and was not able to save a section of pink foam so both tunnels would be separate as the one track curves and I used the longest car I had and even cutting at a 45 degree angle the car would hit that middle part so it was down to 1/2 inch wide so I cut it out now all is happy. I need to get another 4x8 pink foam board so I can finish the other end and make that tunnel portal for the upper double mainline after the one I did today this one will be a breeze! in 5th photo the foam board front left side is angled across from the 4 foot wide panel in front this will be screwed in place and not be removable but that 4 foot wide piece will be held in place by use of door magnets and metal strike plates. I did toss that blade that kept steering wood on table saw crossways and put one of the re-sharpened blades on my table saw and all is good again go figure. that's all for now

Wood, you are a lucky man I know of very few wives that would allow her washer and dryer to be a plaster work bench

Really enjoy the pics and seeing the progress and changes to your layouts. When one doesn't have a layout yet it is great to see so many. Lots of great ideas as well!!
Thanks Much,
Gary.

Made a couple twisted-wire, bristle trees. I always thought of those only for pines, but I added some clump foliage and superleaves. Happy with the result. They are the two on the right here: Also wanted some puny trees growing in the silt around the breaker. Just went ahead and bought a bunch of Bachman trees for these. Might need to go back and paint the trunks. They are the three trees between the road and track here:

I added a building that I bought from a club member. I'm not sure I'm happy with where I put it. Attachments:

We have watched and bookmarked some great vids for making your own trees. You can have great detail at a fraction of the cost of ready made. Definitely the way to go. Again, super job Jeff!! Gary. Wood, you are a lucky man I know of very few wives that would allow her washer and dryer to be a plaster work bench Thanks, however this washer and dryer is our old one. We remodeled our home and the laundry room is now upstairs. I kept this in for washing our puppy Zeke's blankets, fishing cloths and my dirty rags. It is a great work bench. Just the right height and a stable work top.

Plaster work and stone wall backdrop this weekend. Woah! That is going to be awesome! Did you paint those buildings up top? If so, for this build or have you used them before painted like that? Great looking, so Christmasy! And, the GCT, what's the story? Is that like TW train works or something like that?

There is some great work being posted here . Love the detail of your layout Twincities and the skill level of your work Pennsy484. Busy, busy, busy… Life gets in the way of important work, like the layout. The hill is plastered but not detailed. Last night I was able to relight a billboard which is the reason I am making this small hill. It is one of the Toy Train Billboards which has a beautiful image of the Banff mountains and advertises the Canadian Pacific who built the hotel. The problem with these billboards is they have a little whoosy 14v incandescent lamp. They need to get into LED lights and their product would be much better. The pics below show how great it will look at the entrance to my rendition of the Banff Springs Hotel. Cheesy 14v lamp LED lights Finished
