Anyone try the new Brooklin Digital Garage yet? Seems like a nice way to keep an inventory of your collection as well as buy/sell items.
Got an email about it earlier today.
Any initial impressions or thoughts?

So I gave it a try and failed miserably. Only one of my Brooklin models was in their database (the NABCC Club car). I suspect they still have work to do to get their entire catalog into the database. As a side note, this is through a partnership with hobbydb, so not a Brooklin built tool. www.hobbydb.com/marketplaces/brooklin/The interface is fairly easy to use, so once the database has all of the models, this should be a nice tool. I wish they did trains as well!! Let me know if any of you have better luck.

The NABCC has been an integral part of this database. We've had a team of folks working diligently with Christian Braun and his crew to get it up and running. There are already hundreds of entries in there. It's is very nearly complete. When that happens, it will be a treasure trove of Brooklin data. Not only that, it will be searchable and easy to update and keep current. Christian and I will be cutting a tutorial this weekend, hoping to show folks how to easily navigate the database. Meanwhile, if you go to hobbyDB.com, Search "database" (Fig 1), then on the next screen, enter "Brooklin" near the top of the page and "Buick" in the "related Subjects" box (Fig 2), you'll get all the Brooklin Buicks.

BTW, I'm sure hobbyDB would love to add trains. Perhaps the O Gauge Forum would like to offer help?

Thanks John. I will give it another try.
Looks like they do have some trains, but I haven’t messed with it enough yet to know how complete their data base is.

John,
Your video was helpful. But there was one minor thing that I figured out. I was trying to search by the reference number (BRK xxxxxx). On the box for many models, the reference number is BRK XX. However, the hobbydb site adds a "0" to the front of the XX part. There is no "0" on the box that the model comes in. Once I figured that out, I was able to find all of my models.
Might be a good tip for other users trying to find their specific models in the same way.

Thanks for the heads up, Adam.
I can't tell you how many hours the data entry team spent discussing Brooklin's reference/model numbers. Their format changed frequently over the years, sometimes it seems during a production run. For whatever reason, the numbers on the boxes seldom lined up with the numbers in Brooklin's production records and even those did not always agree depending on which list was being scrutinized.
Gianluigi Cappi, the author of the recent "Brooklin Collectors Guide" and a world renowned collector in his own right, was part of the team. He was most helpful. Ultimately, we had to come up with the uniform format you see there. If not, the multiple formats threw the whole search process off even when the search did not center around those numbers.
So, searching by using the numbers on the box will sometimes work, sometimes not. In future videos, I'll show some more effective ways to find a particular model. Meanwhile, it looks like you're doing pretty well!

I can appreciate that challenge John. The same situation with serial numbers and part number formats exists for the products that my company makes. Company’s make changes to these things over time. Actually I am still not able to find my airstream. Not in a hurry but if you can give me some tips that would be great. Feel free to use this as an example in one of your videos if it proves to be a good one.

With "Brooklin" in the main search box, type "Airstream" in the "Related Subjects" box. This should produce a list of Airstream Campers.

Gave that a try John. It does show a list of Airstreams, but mine isnt on the list.
The one I have doesn't actually have the word Airstream on it as you would expect. Instead, it is a a "Streamlined American Caravan".

I guess it is the same model as the Airstream Wanderer. The Reference Numbers match and appear to be the same physically.
Just seems odd that the box my model came in has a completely different name.

You probably have an early production. I'm thinking "Streamlined American Caravan" is more of a description than a model name. "Wanderer' is the name Airstream gave to it's smaller campers in the 50's. "Caravan" is what the Europeans call travel trailers.

Notice that the hobbyDB listing shows they were made in 1994 and 1995. They're still in production so, I'm sure someone at the factory probably waked in one day and said, "You know, they don't call them "streamlined caravans" over in the US."
