I love old photos of 4-4-0s...........................
Found this in a Facebook group I belong to:
This is a photo of the Tuckerton Railroad in south New Jersey with tender labeled as Southern Railroad of New Jersey. I know little about this line except that it was located along the south Jersey coast and labeled at being Beach Haven, NJ. Neat two tracked engine house in this vintage photo. Must have connected with West Jersey & Seashore or plain PRR. Unknown Photographer.

That would make a great scene on a layout.

Great photos. Joe, I have the same fascination. There is something special about photos of the old 4-4-0s from when they are on the rails. They speak volumes about a simpler time.

Railroad service and lines in Southern NJ has been decimated. Only a few lines remain but the good news is that the long abandoned CNJ Blue Comet line through the Pine Barrens is slowly being restored. When complete this would bring freight service to SE New Jersey the primary purpose to serve the sand quarry that purchased the line. They are looking towards supplying all of the sand for the new Hudson River tunnels. If the line returns to service as scheduled then there is talk about NJT restoring passengers service. There has been no passenger service in Southern NJ for years excepting the E-W Atlantic City line.
