I picked up an Atlas B & M caboose to go with my new GP9. It is two rail so I will have to replace the trucks. BEAUTY CABOOSE DON!! I WILL HAVE TO GET A B&M GEEP ONE DAY. Gary. Me too! B&M is my favorite.

I am going to look for a 2-10-10-2 3000. It appears to be a really neat engine that we have ignored. Can get Harry to weather it and make it a N and W to go beside the Jawn Henry, another no-pulling wonder. Pretty funny, Bill. I laughed right into my iPad after reading it. And thank you, Brian. Both the Santa Fe and Union Pacific steamers are 4-6-2 Pacifics.

Here's a new Lionel Union Pacific CA-4 caboose that arrived last week. I wanted the older tuscan brown finished caboose to go with my UP 4-6-2 Pacific steam loco. But Lionel's appears to be a little darker than I would like. I also wish Lionel would have had the insight to install lanterns above the rear platform. Oh well . . .

I slipped this little SWEETHEART into Mr. CRABBYCAKES BLACK MONDAY THREAD!! I like it so much I figured I would post it again. Other than it being a sharp piece of Black Bonnet Rolling Stock I have always admired Wood's Beautiful K-LINE set. There are more pieces that I am considering. Gary.

Vern, that U.P. Caboose is really nice! I'm sure that you can find lanterns to go with your new Caboose.
Gary.

Vern, I like the new caboose a lot. The color looks good to me but I don't know diddly about UP colors, that is other than yellow.

Thanks Guys. Thinking about getting some more black Bonnet pieces but wondering if they would look good behind #3300's timeframe. Then again anything is possible in one's Train Imagination!! God, I LOVE this hobby!!!
Gary.

UP’s early center cupola cabooses appeared in the 1940s as tuscan brown, but were painted Amour yellow by the late 40s to match the diesels it was getting to replace its various steamers. I already have a yellow CA-4 to match my yellow GP-7. I just thought the older Tuscan brown would look better behind a black steamer.

There don't seem to be too many Tuscan Brown U.P. cabooses made for model railing. Don't know if U.P. had them but a caboose with a cupola at one end instead of the centre would look really good. We don't have one in Tuscan Brown but the one pictured below is pretty nice. Gary.

The one you pictured is a woodside CA-1, I believe. The UP did have these first in the Tuscan brown, then painted them yellow. They were eventually replaced with the center cupola cabooses.
