Well whadaya know, harborbelt? I was messing around on eBay about a week ago and just for fun, keyed in the Lionel 6-29152, that very rare Santa Fe Super Chief 2-car add-on set that matches the rare 4-car set both of us have, and lo and behold, there it was! Offered by a hobby shop in Illinois, sealed and NIB for $230 Buy It Now plus $10 shipping, I grabbed it and am glad I did! It arrived today and the seller had even boxed the sealed shipping carton with packing peanuts (I love sellers who do that). I carefully unpacked them, lubed the axles, placed them in the train and away it went. A finished 6-car set pulled by an ABA set of Lionel F7s. I'm amazed at how much power the A unit has. If I notched it up to full throttle, the whole train would leave the track. Anyway, I'm very satisfied to have obtained this completed set, just 10 days after you got yours, harborbelt. I guess the gods are with us. We seem to have started a trend! And yes, fortune has smiled on those who search. I am very happy with my cars although I have not run all six together yet. I will try to get some video footage once I have tracked down where I have the other four stored. Actually my eBay search is still in place (by default) and I think it disclosed the set you have got, which is better than mine because you have the original shipping carton. I think I saw one other like that but it was only for sale with the 4 car set, similarly factory sealed, and the seller wanted a four figure sum for them. 🙄However, the cars are certainly worth what you and I paid.

Nice when a plan comes together, Vern. One of the best passenger train sets made in our O-Gauge hobby.

Another train-related birthday gift. A 4 bay Menards covered hopper that I converted to a coal hopper using a Don Kane coal load. I can make a pretty decent coal drag now!

LOL 23 PAGES! You guys buy too many trains Found this locomotive and 4 cars at the local train show for under 500.00 and its a PS3! That’s a very neat engine. Those late 1800s 4-4-0 style engines hold a special place for me. My first train was that style and I still own it. I’ve also always loved the American history from that era.

While up at a San Bernardino swap meet, I stopped at Milepost 38 and The Train Crossing. I added the Boxcars to my overhauled modern mixed. I added James which leaves me 2 engines left to get to back up my Conventional Thomas engines

1. Beautiful coal load, Forrest.
2. Nice General set, John.
3. Tim, you are doing as good job in adding to your rolling stock.

A MTH RS1 that needed a new frame. The NYC engine is a PS3 with high miles but it was worth saving at the price I bought it for. I used a dummy Milwaukee Road RS1 as a donor for the frame. I swapped all the hardware over to the new frame. I just need to paint the handrails yellow. A good runner and great smoker... Some of the other donor parts will live on in my next slug project, based on an EMD SW frame... Tom

Tom, congrats on the new locomotive. I have one and love it. I love the sounds. It rattles just like an Alco.

Thanks Joe. The RS1s are unique. I have a few of them now, both Atlas and MTH. Great locomotives!

Those are some great purchases guys. Good prices too. I'm going to have to plan on attending a few more train shows when things quiet down here. Congratulations one and all.
Gary.
