I thought the group would like a little background on the heavy container port congestion. (and possible effects on train shipments, real and models) This article is from late August - I saw some comments today that the ship line-up in LA/Long Beach could be around 60 vessels, with up to 3-week waits for unloading. Maybe some early Chrismas shopping? splash247.com/more-than-40-ships-waiting-outside-la-and-long-beach-setting-new-record/Dave

It sure sucks that we have gotten to where we rely on China for so many thngs. Plus more and more headed that way

There was discussion amongst large retailers that items destined to become stock for the Christmas buying season, will possibly be delayed, causing a shortage of gift items….which probably equates to higher prices in the future…

It will be interesting how this progresses. I know my wife, who does the bulk of the household shopping, has been telling me that stores are not stocked as she usually sees. This time of year Michael’s, Costco and other stores usual start stocking Christmas items. Martha has said that they seem to be behind this year.
Part of that could also be the shortage of workers.

Well, we will survive, we are very blessed to live in the US, Canada, or Europe. I have noticed there are some bare shelves at my local Walmart and Supermarkets every week. It would be great not to rely so much on one Country as much as we do. There is plenty of work for people who want to work. If there are higher prices on items- which I do see now, I buy less or go without(unless its TP ).
