My knees hurt off and on. Carrying this camera for many years didn't help. In this shot it's on a jib but much of the time on my shoulder. Don

Bruce, Very sorry to hear about all of these challenges. That's an awful lot to deal with.
Hoping to see you at some D3R events this fall!

Don I remember several camera men getting hurt in filming the "Warrior" series. The camera man taking a left in 2nd photo, fell over the fallen log. camera survived but he broke his ankle and drove a stick into his hand. Camera work isn't as glamorous as many think, like stuntmen, they get hurt more then many think.

I've only retired once, on June 30, 2014 when I was 64. Retirement has been mostly good to me. I also have, or maybe had, prostate cancer. I chose radiation therapy over removing the prostate. I finished radiation in March and my PSA went from 14.98 to 5.68. My next test is July 1 and my PSA should be lower because the radiation keeps working for at least 6 weeks after therapy ends. Getting old is not for wimps.
14.9 , that is high, Mine went from 3 to 5 in one year and that made the doctor curious. Did you get a Gleason test ? My positive sample went there and the cancer was rated moderately aggressive. So out it comes. I'm glad the radiation is working for you....

Josef, the only operation I have ever had was because I fell off a small cliff. My only thought was to save the camera. I did but I snapped my ACL by saving it. My very last filming before retirement was in Sri Lanka when we were captured by the Tamil Tigers in the middle of the night. They had guns to our heads and a foot on our drivers neck. No one knew where we were. All we knew was we were in a very dark jungle and lost. Our satellite phone had crapped out on us the day before. Our interpreter could not speak their dialect. I felt very sad because my wife would never know where I died. Long story short we got home and all the crew was safe. This is Sara Sidner (now with CNN) and a very happy Vicky celebrating that we made it back home. Don

Adam, it is and it isn't. I've ben in a few of these kind of situations before and once you resign yourself to them you become very calm. I kept wondering what they were going to do with Sara. How would her husband of only a few months take this. When they motioned for us to go we all piled into the van and wondered if we were going to hear shots. We drove in silence for about twenty minutes, then Sara said "what the f--k just happened". All of us couldn't stop laughing. We were all a good team. Don

Looks like most of us are well past our warranty period. Had a doctor once tell me that warranty is up after 40.

I don’t know how I would be able to get through life without my wife. Martha is everything to me. Even now she is in a Florida for just a few weeks and I have a hard time. We are also a team.

My Gleason score was low but was creeping up to the moderately aggressive range. When I had my last biopsy they took 21 samples and either 7 or 9 of them were positive for cancer. My doctor felt that with the high number of positive samples and my rising Gleason score it was time for a more aggressive approach and offered either radiation or removing the prostate. After doing some research with my wife we decided that radiation was the best alternative for me.
Good luck with the surgery. My age was a factor in choosing radiation. My doctor said that prostate cancer is usually more aggressive in younger men and if I were 10 years younger he would urge me to choose removal over radiation. I guess being older has some advantages.😉

Forgot to mention I'm putting off a knee replacement as long as I can! My wife had one 5 weeks ago (her 2nd). They take longer to recover from than my hip replacement. Well worth it.
