This is the place for new NABCC members to post something about themselves and their Brooklin Model collecting.
I'll start. Over 25 years ago, at train shows, I started to purchase model cars to go with my train layout. I would stop at a table and I found some very heavy models. Had no idea about the history of them, but they sure looked darn good. And the best part, some I purchased at $ 10.00. I doubt the seller knew what they had for sale.
Years later, I learned the history of Brooklin Models and the quality story behind this fabulous model car company. Our Brooklin Models keeps growing and we love them.
We found a terrific way to display our Brooklins on our train layout. We created a Car Show that stretches the length of our train layout. They are also used to fill our many City streets.
Please share your Brooklin Model stories here.

I found out about Brooklin models some time ago at the York show and found them to be some of the best model cars on the market. Although at the time I found the cars to be a little pricy. After joining the OGF some of the members kept posting pictures of their favorite vehicles which were Brooklin models.
I found from some members what great vehicles they are so I decided to pick Up a few and some can be very high but I have found many cars at reasonable prices. I'm now always on the lookout for 1940's and 50's American cars.

Thanks for adding me to the Forum. I look forward to seeing other members collections and sharing mine. My name is John, I am better known as JCarnutz on many other Forums and Flickr. I bought my 1st Brooklin model in August 2014 (for whatever reason I thought it was 2013-but I looked it up it my database and was proven wrong-Oh well!) I had looked at photos of Brooklin models for several years, but to be honest, I had always been distracted by the lack of chrome and detailing. Compared to the precision 1/24 scale models I had been collecting for many years-these seemed somewhat less. When the main 1/24 companies began ending production, my obsession needed satisfying. So in 2011 & 2012, I started looking at the 1/43 scale offerings. I saw some interesting choices, but for the reasons I stated-went with resin and some diecast. By the end of 2013, I had about 150 1/43 scale models in my growing collection. It was mid-2014 that I was searching eBay for something (I don't recall what now) and saw a listing for a 1955 Lincoln Capri Sedan from Brooklin-I was intrigued. I continued to search for other choices and found the '54 DeSoto Hardtop-also intriguing. I made the purchase along with a '35 Pierce-Arrow in red. Now I waited. When they arrived, I was blown away by the amount of detail, the overall feel and weight of the model was impressive. Unlike the resin & diecast models I already had, these seemed to have a warmth and charm I had not gotten from a model before. I can't explain it, nor do I exaggerate-these were the most fascinating models I had ever had. I began making a list and made purchases for many more I found interesting-by the the end of 2014, I had added 45 Brooklin models to my collection. They became the main focus in my model collecting going into 2015. The Brooklin models have a incredible interest to me and I am thrilled with every one I have added to my collection since. As my collection has grown overall, Brooklin models comprise just over 30% of the total. At just over 500 of these gems, I am always on the hunt for something new or an older model that has not yet joined the others. This new club is most interesting as I enjoy sharing my love and interest of these most fascinating works-of-art. Here's the 1st three to join my collection. The most recent to join is the '55 Dodge in pink

I'm a train guy, but really only got back into the model train hobby 3 years ago after a ~32 year hiatus (I was about 10 when i stopped playing with my trains). I started buying cars about 2 years ago, but I was buying on the low end. I didn't see the point of spending ~$50 when I could buy a car for under $10 (orget it free when Menards offered them). I learned about this wonderful brand of model cars on the O-Gauge Forum and decided I needed to see for myself. So I acquired my first 2 Brooklin's ('68 Shelby Mustang GT500, '63 Chevy Corvette Spit Window Coupe) and soon after a 3rd ('53 Olds Fiesta Top Up), all literally in the last 2 months. Just ordered our club model, but I suspect it will not be my fourth as I'm likely to add one or two to the collection before it arrives. My wife is worried! LOL! As jcarnutz said, when I got my first two (the Corvette and Mustang), I just couldn't believe the quality, weight and detail. And buying them after market made the price more than reasonable.

I started with Brooklin models at a time I had no idea what they represented. Back in 1996, when I attended model train shows, there were sellers there that had tables with just 1:43 scale models. I neede cars to fill my city streets. I was drawn to these models that were much heavier and had much more details than the rest. I bought them at anywhere from $ 5.00 to $ 20.00 (the sellers had no idea just what they were selling). Years later I learned the history of Brooklin Models and added several more.
A year ago we added a Car Show to our layout and this was motivation to add additional Brooklin Models.
O-Gauge trains & Brooklin Models, perfect together.

I posted this in Facebook today, so some of you have seen it already. By way of introduction to the group, I should say that I used to buy Brooklin models directly from John Hall, with No.1 (an early Pierce Arrow with no plastic windows) purchased in May of 1976 for the princely sum of $18. Through the years I have sold and purchased a number of BRK products, and today I have roughly 100 Brooklin and Lansdowne models (plus one Alfa). In what may seem like sacrilege to some, I am not married to the brand nor committed to seeking out any and all variants - my collection includes more than 100 brands. But I buy what I like and applaud recent efforts in Bath to make really accurate models. But be advised I will objectively point out inaccuracies where I see them. Here's a few of my favorites.

I am a O gauge train guy and don't have any Brooklin models right now. I'm not a train collector so I doubt that I will ever become a car collector, but I enjoy having cars on my train layout and I'm looking for a Brooklin model to add to the layout. In the mean time I am enjoying seeing the wonderful collections some of you have.

I received my first Brooklin as a gift from a guy I was working with. It was in 1988 and was a '58 Bonneville convertible Pace Car. I had never seen any scale model that gripped me like that model did. My second was the '68 Shelby Mustang and I never looked back. I spent 25 years running car dealerships and then, at 50 years old, went into the ministry. I now pastor a church in Warrenton, VA., and have been blessed with a congregation that tolerates my fourth consuming passion (behind my faith, my wife, and my kids although there are times when my wife wonders where she pops up in that order!). I've been honored to moderate Forum 43 and the Lounge over at the Diecast Zone. Recently I've been doing a series of unboxing videos and interviews and have been having a lot of fun doing them. My YouTube channel is "Kuvakas on 1/43 and More".
I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of you. Thanks for the add.

Being honest, I have heard of Brooklynn Cars, but that was as far as it went until I read about them here on OGF. On our model railroad museum with all the 800+ vehicles we have scattered around dour museum display, I bet some are Brooklynn.

I began collecting matchbox and Johnny Lightning cars when my son was born in 1994. He never had an interest in them so the collection became mine.
Today my main interest is O Scale Pennsylvania Railroad trains. I also enjoy building 1/43 scale model buildings and having 1/43 - 1/50 cars, trucks and buses in the scene.

Hello and thank you for the add to the forum! Some of you know me but for those that don’t here’s a little intro! My name is Julie and I started working in the assembly dept at Brooklin Models back in 1990, at the time I was looking for work in Bath and someone mentioned they had heard they were looking for staff making model cars…. Well I didn’t even know who they were but as a classic car fan I drove straight along there to see if any vacancies, I spoke to John Hall and he said there was a job going but they were just about to telephone an applicant back to give the job to them…. Long story short, after seeing my old car ( I think it was either a mk2 Consul or a morris minor pick up) and having a chat he offered me the job, so obviously I said yes! in 1994 I had my first daughter so from then worked part time from home and did holiday cover, my second daughter was born in 1998 and I eventually came back working on site again about 11 years ago. Aswell as obviously model cars I collect all sorts of stuff, mostly from the 1930s to the 1960s and have about 3 cabinets full of model cars, myself and my Partner Dean have always owned old cars and at present own a 1929 model a roadster and a 1933 Ford pick up, both traditional style 1940s/50s hot rods… so it’s cars at work and at home! Probably my only claim to fame is being the first lady to get into the 100mile an hour club at Pendine sands, Wales with a speed of 102.39mph in my little old pick up truck…I had to get that in as there’s no probably about it, that is my claim to fame 😎 For the last few months I have been helping out on the social media for Brooklin, so make sure if you are on facebook or Instagram to give our page a follow! I often put photos of the cars during building etc so I am happy to share them with you here and hope you will like them, and maybe you will be interested to see a little of the process especially for those of you who perhaps aren’t on social media (for those of you that are.. sorry if you’re seeing them again! 😅) Anyway bear with me while I navigate this forum and work out how to put pictures on etc, but in the meantime I’m happy to be here
