Oscar Peterson create this album named Night Train, honoring his father, a porter of Canadian Pacific Railways.

Thanks for the tip. I will need to look for this record. Hopefully I can find it on vinyl.
Tell us more about your turntable. It looks very interesting. I’ve got a nice Audiotechnica but this one seems to be much more intricate.

Their reissues are top notch, from master tape. Here is the link. store.acousticsounds.com/d/162875/Oscar_Peterson-Night_Train-180_Gram_Vinyl_RecordRegarding my TT. Was made by me. Acrylic heavy plate for stable speed, wood tonearm with a string suspension and external motor to avoid unwanted vibration, isolated pin and platter. The cart I am using is a Grado with an old G1 stylus. AG.

Thanks for the tip. I will preorder a copy. I’m more into blues but love some Jazz as well. This one should be a treat.
Very impressive work on that TT. Did you design and build it from scratch or did you follow some instructions or use a kit? I’m sure u get incredible fidelity from it.

OK, I cheated. I looked on Amazon and one of their sellers had this record in stock from a previous pressing. I am listening to it now and, wow, some very nice jazz indeed!!
Thank you Andre for the tip!

Made from scratch, no kits, specially when are you looking for a sound that you like. The tonearm give me hard time, was too light 5g EM. The night train is a beautiful album, glad you like it. I like blues too but I am not so devoted, have few muddy waters and bill big bronzy and few other. AG.

How I got started in Jazz was by Louis Armstrong singing this song and then delved into his other hits and started going back and picking Benny Goodman, Doug Carn, Miles Davis, etc. All thanks to this song.
