Bill, I did try to make the joints in the Homasote as tight as possible, I just covered the joints with blue painters tape, then painted over everything with flat earth brown.
Joe, I wish I could have seen steam run. The Oyster Bay Rail Road Museum is in the process of trying to restore the 4-6-0 G5s #35. As always funding is an issue. If I hit the lottery, that would be on my list for sure! The Museum is also restoring the old Oyster Bay station to be the new home of the museum. I do like the Dashing Dan logo, but it really didn’t appear until 1957.
Brian, thank you it means a lot coming from someone as talented as you. I’m happy to participate in such a great forum with even better members!
As far as my engines go, most of my fleet is MTH only because Lionel rarely makes Long Island engines. The B6 0-6-0, Alco C420, and the Fairbanks Morse H16-44 are Lionel, the rest are MTH. The C420, GP38-2, and the MP15-AC are not period appropriate for the era I’m modeling, but I just like to run the every now and again. Current day, the GP38-2 engines run freight. The MP15-AC. engines are still in service mostly in yards.

Hey Vince, nice to see you here! Terry, I came across this product at: www.bealltool.comI made the bolts from wooden dowels with a router and the nuts with a tap. I put filler boards that spanned the ceiling joists, then used the bolts from the filler boards to suspend the plywood that the track sat on. Thanks for the location Joe! Andy

Andy, that's a great idea using the N scale cork ballast to create the shoulder slope. It looks great.

The empty train room spells all kinds of room for a very nice layout.

Thanks Joe, I can’t take credit for the idea. I got it from Dennis Brennan, and that’s his ballast. Thank you Denny. I guess I have to clean up a bit before any videos! 👍🏻 Thank you Brian. It’s not really enough room but I shouldn’t complain. My wife was nice enough to let me have the basement. The final track plan took well over a year to work out.

Andy, the wall looks super and your ballast work, excellent. You are building a first class layout.
