Here are a few shots of the dome car; if you want any other angles, let me know and I'll be glad to send more. I almost forgot--in addition to Williams car ends and trucks, these cars also have K-Line diaphragms--what's left of them, anyway. I have no idea if that's how Phoenix sold them that way. Thank you very much; the photos satisfy my curiosity and I am grateful you took and posted them. Interesting how the parts were obtained from different makers, including the K-Line diaphragms although those might have been added later. (I know from my own experience that they don't last.) That said, I don't recognize the dome seating as a Lionel part but I think it must be. The real car had a feature that the manufacturer parts don't allow for but was a main distinctive feature of it, which is the "cathedral ceiling" over the lower level at one end of the car. This staged publicity photo from 'way back when shows it to good effect:

At some point I have to take the dome off and replace it as a few of the mullions are cracked; now that I know it's a Lionel part, finding one should be fairly easy. I'll get a better look at the interior at that point, but I wonder if that part came from K-Line. This is one of the things I love about the hobby; finding out the history of the trains and how they came to be.

Nice find, John! Have fun with them.
Do you have a SP GS-4 to pull them?

Nice find, John! Have fun with them. Do you have a SP GS-4 to pull them? Further up the thread John's posted a movie of the train including the Williams GS-4 that pulls it. Another nice color match - people do get obsessive about that with Daylights!
